The Epiphone Limited Edition EL-00 Pro Mahogany Electro Acoustic with Natural finish carries on the lauded tradition of its flattop predecessors. Tracing its roots all the way back to the first golden age of Epiphone back in the 1930s, this modern day edition boasts the same sublime tonal characteristics you'd expect from the punchy "parlour"-sized body. There are a couple of notable additions in the form of Fishman's Sonitone soundhole preamp and Sonicore undersaddle pickup partnership that ticks all the boxes for today's performers. Whether you're a subtle fingerpicker, or an all-out pick-heavy strummer, the Limited Edition EL-00 PRO mahogany is everything you could want and more.
"Blues box"-style body
Given its name due to its favourability by blue players through the decades, the blues box-style parlour body shape is so loved thanks to its lush timbre, short scale, and lightweight feel that makes it a joy to perform with. Solid mahogany has been applied for the top, whilst the back and sides are constructed using select mahogany to reinforce the depth and warmth produced by the guitar. The natural finish of the mahogany is paired with a single-ply ivory binding along the back, and a striking 3-ply ivory/black binding around the top; an imitation tortoise pickguard with vintage metal "E" completes the vintage aesthetic.
Solid mahogany neck
Fitted to the body via a resilient dovetail neck joint - glued-in for greater reinforcement - is a durable mahogany neck, which has been shaped to a slender 1960s' SlimTaper D profile. Married to the neck is a heavenly rosewood fingerboard, home to 19 medium-sized frets that are adorned with pearloid dot position inlays to guide your way. Subtle single-ply black binding traces the edge of the fingerboard to ensure smooth transitions between each fret. The 12-inch fingerboard radius accommodates smooth string bends and freedom of movement around every fret.
At one end of the fingerboard lies a 1.68-inch nut, which works closely with the Grover mini-Rotomatic tuning machines with 14:1 gear ratio to upheld string tension and tuning integrity with precision. At the body end is a straight rosewood bridge, which creates a seamless connection between the strings and body for optimised intonation and sustain.
You’ll find a Fishman Sonicore pickup underneath the Epiphone EL-00 Pro Electro Acoustic Guitar’s saddle, while the Fishman Sonitone preamp is mounted discreetly in the soundhole. This setup gives you easy access to the preamp’s Master Volume and Tone rotary controls without getting in the way or taking away from the overall aesthetic of the guitar.
The Epiphone Limited Edition EL-00 PRO Mahogany Electro Acoustic in Natural is an outstanding guitar that offers the best of vintage-style and modern sensibilities. If you're looking for something special but don't want to break the bank, this is the model you've been waiting for.
