As the lead singer and guitarist of one of metal's biggest bands, Trivium, Matt Heafy is no stranger to a stadium stage. Having graced them the world over, one thing that Heafy needs more than anything is a consistent instrument that delivers night after night. Having worked with the team at Epiphone before, Heafy knows that he can rely on them to follow through. Their latest collaboration is the Epiphone Limited Edition Matt Heafy Snofall Les Paul Custom Outfit, a six-string beast that offers a playing experience that is nothing short of pure unadulterated joy. Included in the outfit is an Epiphone premium gig bag, and a hand-signed certificate of authenticity from the man himself.
Classic Les Paul Body
The body is crafted using solid mahogany, which establishes a dense tonal foundation, perfect for Trivium mighty sonic assaults. Paired with the body is a plain maple veneer top, which is completed in that breath-taking alpine white gloss finish mentioned above. Seven-ply black/white body top binding provides a contrasting boundary against the finish, with complementary five-ply black/white binding around the headstock.
Solid mahogany neck
Connected to the body via a glued-in, deep-set neck joint is a durable mahogany neck. Shaped to the 1960's slimtaper D profile, and featuring an "Axcess" heel, the fit and finish of the neck encourages a lightning fast feel. Paired with the neck is a 22 medium-jumbo fret phenolic fingerboard, which is shaped to a 12-inch radius to accommodate seamless string bends.
The generous scale length ensures that each string has ample room to resonate freely, enhancing playing consistency across the neck and fingerboard. The adjustable truss rod features a white and black cover with Heafy's initials and model name in black silk print "MKH Les Paul Custom", whilst Epiphone's classic '60s era headstock logo resides in pearloid alongside the traditional Les Paul Custom split-diamond design.
EMG active humbuckers
In keeping with Heafy's wishes, the Limited Edition Snofall Les Paul Custom is equipped with a pair of EMG active humbuckers, with an EMG-81 in the bridge providing intense high-end gain with peerless sustain, and an EMG-85 is the neck that offers a balanced, but no less powerful tones. In short, these beauties give you everything that you need to produce blistering performances that you can be proud of.
Each pickup has an individual volume and tone knob, whilst a three-way pickup selector allows you to select either or both pickups - a simple control setup that can be used to create a huge range of sonic possibilities. Just don't forget that as they're active humbuckers, a 9-volt battery is required to keep them powered up. In keeping with the hardware finish, Heafy has requested white finished pickups to seal the look.
To keep up with Heafy's uncompromising playing style, Epiphone have equipped the Snofall Les Paul Custom with deluxe diecast tuning machines with metal tulip buttons. Boasting an impressive 14:1 gear ratio, you can rest assured that each and every string will remain steadfast during the most energetic of sets.
The body is home to a LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge, which works in partnership with the stopbar tailpiece to optimise intonation and sustain dutifully. Whether you're practising at home, jamming with friends, or performing to a legion of adoring fans, everything about this guitar feels reassuringly solid. Epiphone straplocks prevent unwanted slippages during performances, and the premium gigbag noted above allows you to get your pride and joy to every gig securely.
