When it comes to iconic guitar shapes, few models come close to the Flying-V, and the Epiphone Limited Edition Joe Bonamassa 1958 "Amos" Korina Flying V Outfit is a rendition of a truly legendary model. The fifth custom Epiphone signature model released as part of the collaboration between Epiphone and Bonamassa, the "Amos" Flying V is modelled on the guitarist's own, which is one of only 91 Flying V produced in 1958. Down to the tiniest detail, Epiphone have faithfully recaptured the magic of that model, for us all to enjoy.
Each model is supplied with a period-correct custom "Amos" hard case to keep your guitar in pristine condition at home or on the go. A hand-signed certificate of authenticity in presentation binder is yours to keep, as well as the accompanying owner's manual, poster, and bumper sticker. Every guitar is supplied with Epiphone's limited lifetime warranty, and is covered by Gibson's 24/7/365 customer service.
A legend reborn
The Joe Bonamassa 1958 "Amos" Korina Flying V is built using Korina, an outstanding tonewood that was first employed by Gibson back in the late '50s, in the initial limited runs of Flying V and Explorer models. Korina is highly prized by luthiers and guitarists thanks to its rich warmth and highly resonant character. Not only that, but it is a delightfully lightweight wood, so throwing yourself about on stage and rocking out comes naturally. The antique natural finish sets off the Korina's delicate grain perfectly, and is complemented in fine fashion by the gold hardware.
Fast playing neck
The glued-in, deep-set neck has also been constructed using Korina, and is shaped to the classic '58 rounded C-profile to give it a reassuringly substantial - yet manageable - feel in the hand. Married to the neck is an FSC Certified blackwood fingerboard, which is home to 22 medium-jumbo frets with dot position inlays to guide your way in style. Thanks to the 12-inch fingerboard radius, smooth string bends can be executed deftly. At the top of the neck you'll find the trademark “V” headstock bearing a raised "Epiphone" logo. This rests between solid nickel premium die-cast "Deluxe" Tuners with Tulip buttons that boast a substantial 18:1 tuning ratio for steadfast tuning. The headstock is also home to the unique gold-plated metal truss rod cover with "Amos Arthur" engraving.
The Ltd Edition Joe Bonamassa 1958 "Amos" Korina Flying-V is home to a pair of Epiphone ProBucker 2 and 3 pickups in the neck and bridge positions respectively. These “PAF”-inspired pickups are a favourite of Bonamassa due to their accurate recreation of the originals found in late '50s Les Pauls, 335s, and Flying-Vs. Adopting the same materials but employing up-to-date construction techniques, these beauties offer vintage tones with modern performance for the best of both worlds.
Control over the pickups comes in the form of Epiphone's heavy-duty 3-way pickup selector switch with an Amber toggle cap, and black "Top Hat" control knobs with CTS potentiometers to guarantee the smoothest attenuation when making adjustments.
To tie everything together, the Epiphone Limited Edition Joe Bonamassa 1958 "Amos" Korina Flying V Outfit comes with gig-ready hardware that empowers the most demanding of performances. The body is fitted with a LockTone ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge, and traditional Flying-V style string-thru body 1958 "V" metal plate mounted with original-style Escutcheon nails. The result is immaculate intonation and a level of sustain that is the stuff dreams are made of. All hardware is finished in gold to complement the cool antique natural finish.
