The Epiphone Limited Edition Peter Frampton "1964" Texan Electro Acoustic Guitar Premium Outfit offers a stunning rendition of the model Frampton used to write many of his hits including "Baby I Love Your Way” and was a faithful touring partner until retired in favour of his new limited-edition Epiphone "1964" Texan. The Premium Outfit is limited to 100 models and includes a hand-signed Epiphone certificate of authenticity, a premium hardcase, a Peter Frampton CD "Acoustic Classics", and Epiphone's limited lifetime warranty.
Classic "1964" Texan
The Texan that Frampton purchased in 1968 is the model he has written many a classic song with including "Baby I Love Your Way". This rendition has superseded that model as Frampton's go to touring guitar. Borrowing from the original design, the body is shaped with a rounded upper bout that extends through to a larger lower bout with slender waist. The back and sides are crafted using mahogany to establish a rich tonal foundation. The soundboard is built using solid spruce, which is a highly resonant wood that projects the timbre of the guitar brilliantly. The faded vintageburst finish is complemented by 3-ply ivory/black/ivory binding around the top with a protective coating of gloss retaining the vibrancy of the finish for as long as possible.
Stable yet responsive neck
Hand-fitted to the body with glued-in reinforcement is a sturdy mahogany neck, which is shaped to a traditional 1960's SlimTaper C-profile that is a joy to glide along. The generous 25.5-inch scale length allows each string to resonate with impunity for a vigorous energy. Paired with the neck is a pau ferro fingerboard, which is home to 20 medium-jumbo frets that are home to pearloid "parallelogram" position inlays to guide your way in style. The 12-inch fingerboard radius lends itself beautifully to the smooth playability of the Texan, encouraging smooth transitions between frets and across strings for a lightning fast feel.
L.R. Baggs Electronics
The limited edition "1964" Texan premium outfit model is equipped with the same cutting-edge L. R. Baggs DS-ELE system as used by Frampton on his own touring model. The DS-ELE system features a miniature onboard combination microphone and pickup mixing system with Class A electronics. Within the guitar's body you'll find the L. R. Baggs Element Transducer and a L. R. Baggs FET omni-condenser microphone. The system allows you to utilise both mono or split-stereo operation for versatile tonal choice as well as stunningly accurate reproduction of the Texan's acoustic timbre. There are soundhole mounted pickup controls that include phase control, master volume and tone controls with a built-in tunable low-cut filter for the element as well as phase control. Everything is powered by a 9-volt battery.
The headstock of the "1964" Texan is home to the same Schaller M6 machine heads that Frampton employs on his customised vintage '64 Texan, which uphold tuning integrity with peerless precision. Neck and body strap buttons allow you to perform seated or standing with ease. The headstock is shaped to a traditional Epiphone "sloped dovewing" with bullet-shaped truss rod cover and vintage "E". The imitation tortoise pickguard is adorned with a foil "E". The soundhole label is replica vintage rectangular blue featuring "Model: FT-79" with Frampton's original serial number "205898". The rear of the headstock includes a sequential serial number along with a "2018" edition logo.
