The Epiphone ES-339 PRO delivers the classic charm of Epiphone's Kalamazoo factory era models, a period when the company was producing some of the finest instruments that rock has ever known - including the ES-335, Sheraton, and Casino models. The ES-339 PRO is the less bulky counterpart of the classic ES-335, featuring smaller body dimensions that make it easier to wield, without compromising on timbre or tonality.
Based on the classic semi-hollowbody models of the late '50s, the ES-339 PRO has a chambered laminated maple body that is completed with a cool cherry finish. As maple is a highly resonant tonewood already, the open design of the ES-339 generates a huge sound that is filled with complex textures. In order to prevent the bright character of the maple from overwhelming the tone, a centre-block tempers the tones to create a subtle balance, giving the ES-339 a delightfully rich output. The centre-block also helps to reduce feedback whilst increasing sustain.
As previously stated, the ES-339 PRO has smaller body dimensions in comparison to the ES-335, it is closer in proportion to the body of a Les Paul. The smaller proportions in no way diminish the dynamic range or tonal complexity of the ES-339, giving it the best of both worlds - sumptuous tones and comfortable playability. The input jack socket has been moved from the front of the guitar to the lower bout.
Solid Mahogany Neck
The sturdy mahogany neck is fitted to the body using a glued-in mortise and tenon joint, giving it a neat connection with the body to improve the sustain and resonant abilities of the ES-339 PRO. Shaped to the SlimTaper "D" profile, the neck is incredible comfortable to play, fitting sweetly in the hand for a smooth playing feel. Married to the neck is a 22 medium-fret rosewood fingerboard, adorned with pearloid dot inlays. The single-ply cream binding on the fingerboard and body completes the classic look.
Versatile Alnico Classic PROs
The ES-339 PRO is fitted with Alnico Classic PRO humbucker pickups, which are equipped with push/pull coil-tapping capabilities using each pickup's volume pot. Fitted in both the neck and bridge position, the Alnico Classic PROs offer incredible depth of range when it comes to tonal options. Unlike traditional hollowbody models, the ES-339 PRO is equipped to handle high-gain tones with ease. The push/pull coil-taps greatly expands the tonal palette of this already impressive setup, by enabling rapid changes between single-coil and humbucker tones from both pickups. Throw the individual tone controls and 3-way pickup selector into the mix and you have the perfect gigging and recording setup.
Fitted to the body is a LockTone tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, which work tirelessly to create a seamless connection between the strings and body for improved intonation, sustain, and a secure anchored playing feel. The headstock carries Grover 14:1 gear ratio vintage-style tuning machines with tombstone buttons, which keep the strings locked in position throughout the most energetic of performances.
The Epiphone ES-339 PRO hollowbody electric guitar is quite simply awesome. If you've always coveted the classic ES-335, but felt it was too bulky, then this model is for you. Not only that but the tonal versatility of the Alnico Classic PRO pickups takes the character-filled richness of the hollowbody design to another level. If you're an amateur, then this is a dream guitar to learn on. If you're a more experienced player then you'll wonder how you ever got by without one of these beauties in your arsenal.

I have played guitar for over 60 years and find Epiphone one of the best, (if not THE best) guitars I have played.
Plays beautifully, set up is excellent, has a fantastic sound and so much variation with the coil tapped pick ups.
The build quality is excellent and the finish is faultless.
I love this guitar,
Thanks to Ollie at the Leeds store, very helpful, informative spent a long time with me. Cheers.
I got it home and plugged it in, strait out of the box it works, incredible tone, light weight (compared to a Les Paul) incredibly comfortable feel, as it says does anything from jazz to rock and much much more, thank you to Dawsons for having such an amazing guitar in stock :)
