Epiphone have released the "New Century" range of electric guitars, all "Inspired by 1966". The New Century Archtop model incorporates the thinline, all-hollowbody design. Epiphone started out in the Greek mountains before moving to Turkey and then the USA where this company began crafting and selling musical instruments in the late 1800s. Some of the finest archtop guitars were made under the "House of Stathopoulo", so when Gibson and Epiphone came together, the Century became a thinline archtop with a smaller body and single pickup.

This New Century model is largely influenced by the design of the archtop guitars of the mid-60s. The reason for this is that these models were often made to feel lightweight and comfortable to play, but also they provided a wide range of warm tones. This modern reissue features a laminated maple body top, back and sides which is what gives us that real clarity in the sound output. The top and the back are complemented by single layer ivory-coloured binding.

Like the archtops of the mid 1960s, the New Century guitar is fitted with a strong, smooth mahogany neck. The neck joint is found at the 14th fret in keeping with the tradition of the archtop. Topping the neck is a rosewood fingerboard which is kitted out with 20 medium frets for you to explore freely, facilitated by the pearloid dot inlay markers. The neck has a comfortable, rounded "C" profile to enhance your grip as you make your way up and down the frets.

A modern appointment of the New Century Archtop is its addition of one P-90 PRO single coil pickup. The P-90 Pro is known as being one of the most versatile pickups on the scene, a single coil pickup which generates a great scope of tones across a huge variety of genres. The P-90 PRO is built to be sensitive so that it can accurately reflect each note of the guitar to suit the individual player.

The P-90 PRO has 18% nickel silver covers which feature new bobbins but are designed to reflect the true historic Epiphone dimensions. The pickup is made using the right alloy with Elektrisola magnet wire, sand cast Alnico V magnets, and pole shoes.

The guitar has very simple Master Volume and Tone controls, allowing for easy sound adjustments.

The New Century model has that historic sloped dovewing headstock with the recognisable Epiphone logo, and it is fitted with Wilkinson vintage 3-in-a-row tuners with plastic ivory keys set at a precise 14:1 gear ratio.

A floating adjustable rosewood bridge sits at the lower bout of the body accompanied by a traditional Epiphone Trapeze tailpiece.

The Epiphone New Century comes to you ready to play, fitted with D'Addario strings, so you can take it straight out of the box and enjoy it right away.
