Description

Details

The Epiphone SG Special VE Electric Guitar, offers the classic double-cutaway "horns" solidbody at an affordable price. You don't have to be a seasoned pro to appreciate the outstanding playability offered by the SG Special VE. Everything from the comfortable playing feel to the impressive tonal arsenal to be raided has been carefully chosen to ensure the SG Special is just that - special!

Classic design

Adhering to the long established solidbody design, the SG Special is shaped to the devilish "horns" double cutaway, which makes it much easier on the fretting hand to access the highest reaches of the neck. The body is crafted using lightweight poplar, which takes the strain out of any performance. The top has been treated to a sophisticated mahogany veneer, which is coupled with a "played in" vintage worn finish. The body around the pickups is protected by a two-layer black/white pickguard.

Durable mahogany neck

Fitted to the body is a bolt-on mahogany neck, which establishes a sturdy and reliable playing feel. The neck is shaped to a comfortable 1960's SlimTaper "D" profile, fitting into the hand sweetly without becoming cumbersome with a standard SG scale length of 24.75-inches. Paired with the neck is a sumptuous 22 medium-fret rosewood fingerboard, which is adorned with pearloid dot position inlays.

Epiphone humbuckers

The SG Special VE is equipped with a pair of Epiphone humbuckers with a 650R in the neck position, and a 700T in the bridge position. The hot-sounding open-coil, noise-free, ceramic-8 magnet pickups provide a raucous energy that is infused with vintage SG tones. Voiced to deliver just the right amount of grit and growl. Epiphone have designed the pickups to produce a tight low-end response with a smooth mid-range, energy and a pronounced high-end sparkle. If you're looking for a guitar to rock out with, then this is the one for you. Control comes in the form of a master volume knob, a master tone knob, and three-way pickup selector.

Hard working hardware

The body is home to a Tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, which are designed to optimise intonation and sustain for sublime rhythm and lead playing. The Epiphone "Clipped Ear" headstock is home to their classic logo in silver, with a two-layer bell-shaped truss rod cover adorned with "SG" in white. Premium covered machine heads boast an impressive 14:1 gear ratio, allowing them to uphold tuning integrity with precision.

To play an Epiphone SG Special VE Electric Guitar is a joyful experience, which is just as it should be when rocking out on your guitar. Epiphone have done an exceptional job with this model, packing in an extraordinary level of craftsmanship for such an affordable model, and we're sure this is set to become a modern classic.
