The Epiphone Sheraton II Pro in a delicious vintage sunburst delivers the cool sophistication of classic model, with appropriate appointments and finishing touches throughout. Modern build quality is present to ensure that this beauty is as solid a workhorse as one could hope for, whilst the sublime timbre of the guitar is delivered with aplomb by the ProBucker humbuckers.

Quality craftsmanship

The body of the Epiphone Sheraton II Pro Electric Guitar is constructed from laminated maple, and shaped to the semi-hollowbody with double-cutaway. The large lower bout of the body allows the Sheraton to create a rumbling energy that is infused with warmth and depth. To prevent that inherent power from overwhelming the guitar lushly textured output, a mahogany centre block runs along the inside of the guitar. This restricts feedback without sacrificing on sustain.

Glued into the body is a hard maple neck that has been carved to a 1960's SlimTaper C profile for exceptional comfort. Lying atop this is a pau ferro fingerboard with "Block & Triangle" Inlays, using Mother of Pearl and Abalone, which complement the headstock’s historic "Tree of Life" inlay perfectly.

The original Sheraton combined the feedback-resistant qualities of the ES-335 with the cosmetics and inlays from Epiphone and relied on a split-trapeze Frequensator tailpiece, while this version, the Epiphone Sheraton II Pro, has improved sustain provided by the introduction of a Stopbar tailpiece, which works in tandem with a LockTone locking Tune-o-matic bridge. This is in addition to the precise, stable tuning offered to the guitar via a set of gold Grover 18:1 ratio machine heads.

Pickup power

Making the most of that gorgeous maple neck, and the body that provides so much tone and sustain, is a pair of ProBucker Humbuckers, which deliver the heavenly, characterful tone of the Sheraton impeccably. With a ProBucker-2 in the neck position delivering smooth, buttery tones, you have the perfect tone for executing fat and thick blues, or dial back the tone control and go for some snappy, jazzy licks. In the bridge position is a hotter sounding ProBucker-3, perfect for giving your leads a searing intensity, lifting your solos above the mix with ease.

Each pickup is equipped with independent volume and tone control knobs, which are equipped with 500k Ohm potentiometers to ensure smooth attenuation at all times. The all-metal three-way pickup selector switch, enables ready access to a wide range of potential tones.

This version of the Epiphone Sheraton II Pro Electric Guitar is finished in a beautiful vintage sunburst gloss that really compliments the "heartbeat" of this remarkable guitar.

Posted on 07/07/2015 by This is a truly superb guitar - by any measure. Tonally the Sheraton Pro II is incredibly versatile, offering jazz sophistication through country honk to rock crunch. The Sheraton is aesthetically too cool for words, capturing many of the best appointments of the 1950's Epiphone original! A serious contender amongst the very best semi-acoustics - including those by Gibson, Ibanez and Washburn. Thanks as always to the brilliant staff at Dawsons - keep up the good work guys!
