The Epiphone Thunderbird Classic IV-PRO bass guitar delivers incredible tones with a robust, muscular energy that has helped it to become one of the most iconic instruments ever built. Since the Thunderbird IV’s release back in 1963, artists including Nikki Sixx (Mötley Crüe), The Who, Kings of Leon, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, have utilised the awesome sonic output of this amazing bass. The T-Bird Classic IV-PRO delivers the vintage looks, feel, and tones, without the classic model price tag.

Road-ready Construction

The Thunderbird’s raw power and enviable sustain, all comes from its unique design. Instead of having a neck that is attached to the body, the T-Bird has a central through-neck design that is constructed using 7-ply mahogany/walnut, with mahogany body wings attached to each side. The neck-through design allows the resonance and sustain generated by the strings to develop a tremendous level of energy. The body wings then reinforce that energy with a fat midrange character.

The body benefits from a classic style 3-point adjustable flush-mount bridge, creating a seamless connection between the strings and body for an anchored feel, enabling you to play as robustly as you like, safe in the knowledge this bass can take it. The headstock is fitted with black die-cast tuners with a massive 17:1 gear ratio, giving them durability and strength to uphold tuning integrity throughout the most energetic of performances.

Gibson TB Plus humbuckers

The Epiphone Thunderbird Classic-IV PRO bass guitar fitted with a pair of TB Plus humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions. Whether you’re looking for a smooth, creamy blues’ tone, a tight country twang, or a ferocious metal snarl, the TB Plus humbuckers have you covered – and then some! Thanks to the ceramic magnets at the heart of each pickup, the TB Plus’ deliver a steady response over a vast dynamic range. Control comes in the form of stylish black TopHats with chrome metal inserts, enabling adjustment over the neck pickup’s volume, the bridge pickup’s volume, and a master tone control. Simple, yet highly effective.

The Epiphone Thunderbird Classic IV-PRO bass guitar has been given a stunning Alpine White finish, which is guaranteed to turn heads. The reverse headstock is present, carrying the Epiphone logo on the truss rod cover. Not forgetting, the white pickguard that carries the iconic Thunderbird logo.

Posted on 15/10/2015 by flyer The bass tone is great I get everything I need from it even with overdrive. the neck is great you can get up and down really quickly. my only problem is that it is top heavy but it is still love this thing great bass
Posted on 07/04/2014 by Aaron Tried this out in the shop today and it is so much easier to hit those tight riffs which are normally difficult but the shape and the weight of this bass guitar is perfect definitely worth the money you're paying!!
Posted on 05/04/2013 by vince Great colour, looks good and plays well. Good value for money!
Posted on 09/02/2013 by James I tried out one of these in store today after trying the Gibson Thunderbird and it was brilliant! There was little difference in sound and the pickups and bridge appear identical! I owned the Original PRO version of the T-bird a few years ago but eventually sold it due to the hum from the active electrics and sheer weight! (I had the 5 string). This one is much nicer and I want one.
Posted on 27/01/2013 by Mittens Best bass I have ever played, let alone owned. It is definitely lighter than my previous bass and performs much better as well. One fault with the bass is that the bridge is quite low so if the strings aren't tight enough they will vibrate against the strings, however this was solved easily enough by raisin it.
Posted on 04/11/2012 by Dan I love the colour of this bass, and every other aspect of it, including the sound. Everything except that it’s top heavy and when you wear it with a strap it dives to the floor.
