Evans EC2 series features two plies of 7mil film with optimized attack, tone, length of sustain and ease of tuning for each size head. The Sound Shaping Technology (SST) Edge Control ring mounted on the underside delivers an extremely well balanced and pre-EQ'd sound across the full kit by varying the size of the ring for each different head size.

For over 40 years, Evans has been a pioneer of drum head manufacturing and design. Known for innovative designs such as EMAD, EC2S, and the Hydraulic series, Evans drum heads are made in the USA in a state of the art manufacturing facility. Acquired in 1996 by D’Addario and Company, the global leader in musical instrument accessories, the Evans brand is synonymous with quality and consistency.

Posted on 04/09/2012 by I recently decided to use the Evans EC2 SST drum heads on my Mapex drum kit. As soon as I fitted and tuned them I knew these were the heads for me. The low end attack on them are incredible, these heads are designed to be tuned low and when they are tuned correctly they blow you away, and they suit all size drums. The sound shaping technology (SST) outer control ring really gives these heads character and a warm balanced sound while maintaining the low end of the drum. They are incredibly easy to tune; from my experience they work best when tightened just past where the head stops wrinkling at the edges. If you want a deep rock sound, these are the heads for you!
