The Fender American Elite Stratocaster RW Electric Guitar in 3 Colour Sunburst delivers an exceptional model with updates that make it better than ever before. The Elite series takes over from the Deluxe series, bringing with it a host of improvements that is guaranteed to satisfy the needs of modern players, whilst keeping purists happy too.
Classic Strat Style
As you'd expect, Fender have adhered closely to the historic Strat design, retaining its sleek and slender curves that make it so comfortable to play. The American Elite series body is crafted using alder, a favourite of Fender's thanks to its balanced timbre that makes it a highly versatile tonewood that adapts well to any musical style. Alder is also light in weight, making it a joy to wield for hours on end. The body has been treated to a 3 colour sunburst finish, which is coated in a protective layer of gloss polyurethane.
Redesigned Neck Profile
Strat necks are amongst the most comfortable to play, so how can Fender improve upon an already brilliant design? For starters, the Elite models have a new compound neck back shape taking the profile from a modern C to a D, as well as an updated neck heel, creating a shallower shape for the fretting hand to negotiate along the neck's entire length. The new profile and heel design, work beautifully with the double-cutaway body shape to guarantee unrivalled playing freedom.
Double-Action Truss Rod
The double-action truss rod can be easily accessed via the thumbwheel at the base of the fingerboard, allowing you to make adjustments as you please to aid in setting your desired string action precisely, whilst optimising intonation. At the top of the neck the synthetic bone nut partners up well with the deluxe cast/sealed locking tuners to uphold tuning integrity throughout the most enthusiastic of performances. The silky smooth, single-piece maple neck is paired with a sumptuous 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. White pearloid dot position inlays guide your way in style.
N4 Noiseless Pickups
The newly designed N4 Noiseless pickups are exclusive to the American Elite series, combining the best of both worlds - vintage tones with modern performance. Whether you're performing bright and lively country, hard and heavy rock, smooth blues chops - you get the idea -, the Noiseless pickups translates the textured timbre of the tonewoods without unwanted hum, so you're left with a pristine output.
Control comes in the form of a five-way pickup selector switch that allows each pickup to be selected individually, or create neck/middle and middle/bridge combinations for a fuller tone. There is a master volume pot with a S-1TM switch, as well as a neck tone pot, and a middle and bridge tone pot with no-load circuitry that enables you to dial back the highs, without introducing unwanted low-end to the signal for a tighter-sounding output.
The body carries the 2-point deluxe synchronised tremolo with pop-in arm, which creates a seamless connection between the strings and body for optimised intonation and sustain, as well as smooth vibrato control.

The appointments over a standard strat are numerous, locking tuners, improved bridge saddles, amazing new super accessible truss rod, but the real deal maker is the new 4th generation Fender Noisless pickups which are deathly silent as far as hum is concerned. An amazing studio strat that won't give a sound engineer a headache.
At present this is the only guitar that has these 4th gen Noisless pickups and they cannot be bought seperately.
All in all worth a punt, especially as the new CITES import rules means that rosewood will no longer be used. Chances are if you shop around you'll find a good rosewood model at discount as shops try to clear old stock to make way for the new ebony fingerboard models.
This also means that in the future these rosewood models will only have been produced for just over a year making them a rarer and more sought after guitar.
