Many of the original builds of Fender guitars started out as pine prototypes, whereas now, the 2017 Limited Edition American Professional Telecaster uses this tonewood purposely. Carefully hand-crafted from reclaimed wood and equipped with high quality hardware, this Telecaster is one-of-a-kind, each one with its own imperfections in the wood that add to the guitar's striking appearance.
The Telecaster has a really clean, uncomplicated style with a single body cutaway. As mentioned, unlike many other Telecaster models, Fender have chosen pine to construct the body, offering a truly striking appearance. The life of this pine began over 100 years ago at the Buckstaff Furniture Company. Now, the wood has been reclaimed by Fender, cooked and expertly used to sculpture the body of the Limited Edition American Pro Pine Telecaster.
A maple neck joins the pine body and is shaped to the modern "C" shape for a comfortable grip and playing feel. The surface beneath the fingertips which tops the neck is also maple, featuring black dot inlays across the 22 narrow tall frets to guide you. Movement is facilitated thanks to the 9.5 inch radius of the fingerboard, and it suits a wide range of playing styles and musical genres. Whether you prefer intricate note arrangements or varied chords, the neck is comfortable for all types of play.
The sound of the Limited Edition American Pro Pine Tele is carried brilliantly. Fender have kitted out this Tele with an American Vintage '64 Gray-bottom single-coil Tele pickup in the bridge position, paired with a Lollar Charlie Christian single-coil pickup in the neck position. The Telecaster is known for its ability to produce anything from soothing blues and jazz tones to bright, resonant country-style sound. This Limited Edition model can replicate the classic Tele tones and more, adding a 60s vintage vibe from the bridge as well as "woody" tones from the neck.
As with many Tele models, the control interface is simple with just Master Volume and Master Tone pots, plus a 3-way switch to alter between or blend the pickups for rich, dimensional tones.
Sustain of the American Pro Pine Tele is promoted by the 3-saddle string-through-body Tele "Ashtray" bridge. The bridge also has compensated brass saddles which ensures intonation is improved along the entire length of the neck. At the top of the neck is a traditional Tele headstock which is fitted with Fender standard cast/sealed tuning machines to uphold tuning integrity with precision.
The beautiful natural Pine appearance of the body is decorated by nickel/chrome hardware and a 1-ply black anodised aluminium pickguard. Fender supply a hardshell case with each Limited Edition American Pro Pine Telecaster for added protection and safe storage.
