The Fender American Elite Precision Bass Guitar in Champagne is a mesmerising model in every way. Not only is it a feast for the eyes, but adhering to classic P Bass design, it plays like a dream. Thanks to updated tech, you have a plethora of tones waiting to be explored thanks to the built in active preamp and 3-band EQ controls. Fender have upped the game with regard to the Precision Bass' capabilities, and it definitely lives up to the Elite series' name.

Cool Precision Bass style

The undeniably cool Precision Bass has been adopted by bassists across all genres since its introduction decades ago, not least due to its exceptionally comfortable playability. The sweetly contoured body and bevelled edges combine to create a figure-hugging profile that is unlike any other. The deep double-cutaways combine with a slimline neck heel to offer unencumbered access to the upper register.

Built using alder - a Fender favourite -, the American Elite Precision Bass is also light in weight, sparing your back and shoulders during long stints on stage. Finished in a sophisticated champagne paint job, the body is protected by a coating of gloss polyurethane to preserve the stylish visual aesthetic for as long as possible.

Fast-playing neck design

Connected to the body via a 5-bolt asymmetrical joint is a sturdy maple neck. Shaped with a compound back shape to the modern "C" to "D" profile, the neck offers a consistent feel from headstock to heel. The truss rod adjustment wheel makes it easy to adjust the neck relief to prevent buckling or warping from affecting string action.

Paired with the neck is a luxurious ebony fingerboard, which is host to 21 medium-jumbo frets that are adorned with white pearloid dot position inlays. The smooth satin urethane neck finish prevents the build-up of stickiness so that your hand can glide along freely. The 9.5- to 14-inch radius accommodates smooth string bends and seamless transitions across each string for a flowing playability.

N4 Noiseless Pickups

The Fender American Elite Precision Bass is equipped with a pair of 4th Generation Noiseless pickups, adhering to the classic PJ configuration - in the middle position is an Elite Precision Bass split single-coil, whilst in the bridge position is an Elite Jazz Bass single-coil.

Each model has a built-in active 18-volt preamp to increase headroom for a smooth transient response, whilst guaranteeing that noise is kept to a minimum. The control layout consists of a master volume pot, a pan pot that acts as a pickup selector, and an active/passive mini-toggle switch. A trio of EQ pots (Treble/Midrange/Bass) enable you to sculpt your tone with incredible dexterity, giving you a huge arsenal of tones to play with.

The body is home to Fender's 4-saddle hi-mass vintage bridge, which anchors each string securely to optimise intonation and sustain. Fender "F" lightweight vintage-paddle key tuning machines with tapered shafts uphold tuning integrity precisely throughout the most demanding of sets. Everything about the American Elite series lives up to its name, and no matter what you throw at this beauty, it will keep coming back for more.
