The Fender American Original 50s Stratocaster Guitar in 2-Colour Sunburst is a period-correct model that draws on the enigmatic model's debut for inspiration. Since it was first gifted to the world by Leo Fender back in 1954, the Stratocaster has helped guitarists to forge paths in a plethora of ways, changing the musical landscape forever. As much a cultural icon as it is a sublime guitar, the Stratocaster is worthy of its pioneering status.
Upon its release, the Stratocaster wowed guitarists with its sleek appearance. Taking Fender innovation one step further from the already popular Telecaster, the Stratocaster introduced an ergonomically-designed masterpiece. The deep double-cutaway afforded greater access to the higher reaches of the neck, whilst the shapely contours and softly bevelled edges afford supreme playing comfort. The American Original 50s model is designed to match the body radii to create the exact same feel.
The body is built using alder, a lightweight and tonally balanced tonewood that has been favoured by Fender for decades. The bright midrange energy springs forth with well-represented highs and tempered low-end. The 2-colour sunburst finish allows subtle hint of the alder's grain to filter through, whilst a protective layer of gloss nitrocellulose protects changes in temperature and humidity from affecting the paintwork. A single-ply eggshell pickguard prevents unwanted nicks and scrapes from affecting the body finish around the pickups.
Classic V-shape neck
Joined to the body is a sleek maple neck, which is shaped to a classic soft-"V" profile that provides a useful pivot-point for your fretting hand. The neck has also been treated to a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer coating to prevent unwanted stickiness from impeding your movement. Married to the neck is a maple fingerboard, which is home to 21 vintage-tall frets. The 9.5-inch radius enhances the fret design to guarantee seamless string bends, allowing you to glide along to your heart's content.
The American Original '50s Stratocaster is equipped with a trio of Pure Vintage '59 single-coil Strat pickups in a classic bridge/middle/neck configuration. In keeping with the period-correct vibe, everything from the coil wire to the output wire, the alnico 5 magnets to the bobbins, has been dutifully chosen and applied. From sparkling open-chords to lightning fast legato, your performance will be translated with the utmost clarity.
The body is home to the pure vintage 6-saddle synchronised tremolo, which anchors each string securely and offers accurate vibrato control. The headstock is home to pure vintage single line "Fender Deluxe" tuning machines, which uphold tuning throughout the most energetic of performances.
Each model is supplied with a vintage-style hardshell case, so that your Fender American Original '50s Stratocaster in 2-Colour Sunburst can be kept safe and sound at home or on the move.
