Fender are pioneers in delivering flawless electric guitars which has been the case since they began in 1946. The Fender American Special Stratocaster HSS in Black retains all of the legendary status of this iconic model whilst bringing in new enhanced appointments that make this guitar as special as its title suggests. The USA built Stratocaster is one of Fender’s most adored guitars and it has both timeless quality and vintage sound.
Sleek Strat Style
In keeping with the historic design, the American Special Strat features the smooth curves and bevelled edges that make it such a joy to play. Crafted using alder, a lightweight and tonally balanced wood, this Strat is one of the most comfortable guitars to hit the stage with. The elegantly shaped contours ensure that the body sits snugly during performances to create a natural feel. The finish has a protective layer of gloss urethane that ensures the black paintwork is preserved for as long as possible.
Slender Maple Neck
A silky single-piece maple neck is firmly fitted to the body and is designed with speed, precision and comfortability at the forefront. Shaped to the modern "C" neck profile, you can glide along its 25.5" scale length with the greatest of ease. Married to the neck is a sumptuous maple fingerboard complete with 22 jumbo frets that are decorated with white dot position inlays to guide your way. Every fret is readily accessible thanks to the classic double-cutaway Strat body profile, giving you total freedom to explore the neck in its entirety.
Texas Special Pickups with Greasebucket Circuit
The American Special Strat is powered by a double whammy of Texas Special Strat single-coil pickups combined with an Atomic Humbucking bridge pickup which give this Strat its HSS configuration. The combination of these three pickups offer that energetic Texas blues type sound with a taut bass, concentrated midrange and sparkling highs.
A 5-way pickup selector switch enables you to select each pickup independently, or combinations of each. If you want fat, swelling mids, rumbling lows or searing highs, between the three pickups you have access to a universe of tones to explore. The neck and bridge pickups each have individual tone pots with the Greasebucket Tone Circuit - this means that when you dial down the tone, you can level off the high frequencies without reinforcing or adding low-end tone, resulting in a much tighter sounding output whether playing clean or with overdrive.
The body carries the 6-saddle vintage-style tremolo bridge, which creates an impeccable connection between the strings and body for optimum stability when playing while it also offers greater intonation, and allows you to add subtle vibrato whenever you wish thanks to the tremolo arm. The large '70s-style headstock carries Fender standard cast/sealed tuning machines that keep each string held securely in tune throughout every performance. The body top is protected around the pickups and control pots by a stylish 3-ply black pickguard which gives it a neat finish against the black background.
