The Fender American Special Stratocaster electric guitar in Olympic White has all the classic style and character we'd expect from such a legendary model, with superb modern appointments that make this a truly exceptional model. The U.S.-built Strat is one of the most beloved instruments ever released, and the American Special Stratocaster is built for fun.

Sleek Strat Style

In keeping with the historic design, the American Special Strat features the smooth curves and bevelled edges that make it such a joy to perform with. Crafted using alder, a lightweight and tonally balanced wood, this Strat is one of the most comfortable guitars to hit the stage with. The elegantly shaped contours ensure that the body sits snugly during performances to create a natural feel. As noted, the body is built using solid and reliable alder, a tonally balanced wood that Fender have used since the 1950s due to its delicately balanced tonality. The finish has a protective layer of gloss urethane that ensures the Olympic White paintwork is preserved for as long as possible.

Slender Maple Neck

Fitted to the body is a sleek single-piece maple neck, which is designed with speed, precision and comfortability at its core. Shaped to the modern "C" neck profile, you can glide along its 25.5" scale length with the greatest of ease. Married to the neck is a maple fingerboard, complete with 22 jumbo frets that are adorned with dot position inlays to guide your way. Thanks to the classic double-cutaway Strat body profile, each and every fret is readily accessible, giving you unrivalled freedom to explore the neck in its entirety. The maple/rosewood combination guarantees that your tones are infused with the utmost articulation for accurate representation of your technique.

Texas Special Pickups with Greasebucket Circuitry

The American Special Strat is powered by a triple-threat of Texas Special Strat single-coil pickups. Designed to deliver tones with power and precision, anything and everything you can imagine is catered to from country to hard rock.

Control over the pickups comes in the form of a 5-way pickup selector switch, enabling you to select each pickup independently, or combinations of each. If you want fat, swelling mids, rumbling lows or searing highs, between the three pickups you have access to a universe of tones to explore. The neck and bridge pickups each have individual tone pots with Greasebucket Tone Circuitry - this means that when you roll back the dial, you can level off the high frequencies without reinforcing or adding low-end tone, resulting in a much tighter sounding output.

Gig-Ready Hardware

The body carries the 6-saddle vintage-style tremolo bridge, which creates a seamless connection between the strings and body for maximum playing stability, offers greater intonation, and allows you to add subtle vibrato whenever you wish. The large '70s-style headstock carries Fender standard cast/sealed tuning machines that keep each string held steadfast throughout the most energetic of performances. The body top is protected around the pickups and control pots by a stylish 3-ply mint green pickguard.

Posted on 03/07/2017 by Dave Y This is a brilliant guitar...

The maple neck with its smooth satin finish made for brilliant playability, I actually couldn't believe how well it played compared to the other guitars I own, part of that will be down to the setup but the intonation was perfect across all 22 frets.

The pickups provide excellent dynamic response and have a glassy clear-cut character when clean, punchy yet balanced when rolled off.

When pushed with gain I was not disappointed, and best of all the pickups still retained THAT dynamic response.

I was gutted when I snapped the high e-string but I got carried away!!

The guitar was played through a Fender Bassbreaker, which was perfect bedfellow to the guitar.

The store was in Leeds and I'd like to say thanks to the staff member who helped me get set up, what a dude!!
Posted on 23/05/2016 by BroAwesome Tried this in store sounded amazing straight away Texas special pickups are so Loud!
The picture on the website shows an American Standard which also sounds amazing but the American Special has the bigger headstock classic bridge and all white controls.
Plays just as easy feels exactly the same as my Standard but is way louder and bluesy sounding it's a great guitar.
Only downside is the whammy bar is a bit higher from the body than I like compared to the Standard but that's easily swapped.
