The Fender Justin Meldal-Johnsen Road Worn Mustang Bass Guitar in Faded Daphne Blue offers a recreation of the artist's prized '67 Mustang. With a career that has spanned several decades, and a list of credits that boasts a hugely diverse roster of artists, Justin Meldal-Johnsen is a modern day musical genius. Having worked as a musical director for Beck, toured with Nine Inch Nails, played on countless studio recordings, scored soundtracks for tv and film, and produced several albums for artists including Wolf Alice, Paramore, and M83, Meldal-Johnsen's '67 Mustang has been with him every step of the way.
Sublime Road Worn Mustang
Since its introduction in the mid-'60s, the Fender Mustang bass has been seen in the hands of bassists across all musical genres. Favoured by many due to its classic short scale length, the Mustang is supremely comfortable to perform with. Built using lightweight alder, the bass has curves in all the right places to ensure a snug playing feel. In keeping with Meldal-Johnsen's road worn Daphne Blue finish, Fender have gone to great lengths to recreate the nicks and picks of the original tour-scarred model, displaying the marks of a bass that has clearly seen plenty of action.
Fast playing maple neck
Fitted to the body of the JMJ Mustang Bass is a fast playing maple neck, which is carved to the comfortable "C" shape profile. The neck features a unique road worn nitrocellulose lacquer finish, contributing to the smooth feel in the hand. Paired with the neck is a cool rosewood fingerboard, which is home to 19 medium-jumbo frets with aged pearloid dot position inlays to guide your way. The neck's 30-inch scale length ensures a tight, focused tone, whilst the 9.5-inch fingerboard radius guarantees a reassuringly familiar feel.
Custom Seymour Duncan pickup
The JMJ Road Worn Mustang bass is equipped with a custom Seymour Duncan split single-coil pickup in the middle position. Designed to make the most of the balanced alder tonewood, and 30-inch scale length, the pickup is perfect for pulling punchy basslines that exude classic Fender vibes. Control over the pickup comes in the form of a master volume knob, and a master tone knob.
Tour-ready hardware
The headstock is home to standard open-gear tuning machines, which upholds tuning integrity with absolute precision during the most demanding of performances. The body is home to a 4-saddle Mustang Bass strings-through-body bridge, anchoring each string securely to optimise intonation and sustain. The nickel/chrome finish hardware complements the body paintwork perfectly.
Each model is supplied with a deluxe gig bag to get your Fender Justin Meldal-Johnsen Road Worn Mustang Bass Guitar in Faded Daphne Blue between your practise space, the studio, and gigs, in style.
