The Fender MIJ Traditional 70s Mustang Electric Guitar is a Japanese-built dream, a timeless classic made to exceed the demands of today's guitarists. Since its original release, the Mustang has been favoured by a diverse range of musicians from David Byrne to Kurt Cobain. The short-scale neck, the unusual pickup switches, and the unique vibrato system all contributed to its appeal, and its list of users furthered its cult status. Built with faithful dedication by Fender Japan, each model is supplied with a gig bag so that once yours arrives, you can hit the road without delay.
Cool Mustang body
The Fender MIJ Traditional 70s Mustang takes on the offset design that has ensnared so many over the years. Taking its cue from the Jazzmaster, the Mustang offers a comfortable playing feel when played either seated or standing. The slim body depth is combined with rolled edges and elegant curves to create a figure-hugging feel as you play.
The body is crafted using basswood, a tonewood that is noted for its lightweight feel, and balanced tone with a midrange emphasis and generous sustain. The Mustang is perfect for those who like to switch between delicate and aggressive with minimal effort. The polyester finish prevents premature damage from blemishing the paint work, whilst the pearloid pickguard shields the area around the pickups and controls from scratches and scrapes.
Short-scale neck design
The Mustang boasts a shorter scale length than that of a Strat, making it more accommodating for those with smaller hands or a shorter reach. Joined to the body is a maple neck, which is shaped to the "U"-shape profile that allows it to sit sweetly in the hand. A subtle coating of polyester prevents stickiness from impeding your movement during performances. Combined with the neck is a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, which is decorated with white dot position inlays to guide your way. The double-cutaway body profile allows your hand to reach the highest frets with ease.
Unique Mustang pickups
The Fender MIJ Traditional 70s Mustang Electric Guitar is equipped with a pair of single-coil Mustang pickups, which feature a unique control system. Each pickup has a phase slider on/Off switch, which allows the pickups to be phase-reversed and set in or out of phase when in parallel, giving it a tonal palette that sets it apart from other setups. Not only that, but there are master volume and tone knobs that give you further control.
Unique trem system
The Fender MIJ Traditional 70s Mustang is equipped with the equally unique floating bridge with dynamic vibrato tailpiece, which offers highly sensitive vibrato control. The headstock is home to chrome die-cast tuning machines to ensure that each string is fixed securely during performances. The Mustang responds faithfully to your playing dynamics, making it wonderful performance partner for those who want a considerate guitar to complement their personal style.
