With its exclusive shape, balanced voicing and vintage look the Fender Newporter Electro Acoustic Guitar in Ice Blue Satin is directly aimed at the performer. The Newporter is packed full of excellent appointments that the singer-songwriter will adore. From the stunning finish to the crisp electronics the Newporter is exciting and unique.
Fender select tonewoods
As we've come to inspect from Fender, the finest tonewoods have been used for the construction of the Newporter. A solid Spruce top has been used for crisp top-end projection and has been painted and finished in gloss-poly. The top plays home to a 3-ply gold finish pickguard and a beautiful 2-ring rosette which adds great character.
Like the top, the Mahogany back and sides have been finished in a gloss-poly. The back and sides have been painted dark offering a classic contrast in looks as well as tone. Mahogany is often used due to its rich, warm overtones and can help smaller bodied guitars sound fuller.
Fitted to the compact body of the Newporter is a mahogany neck that's shaped to an ultra-comfortable Slim "C" shape. The neck has then been finished in satin so that you can glide up and down the neck without any residual build-up, even over lengthy performances. Finally, the neck is adorned with a stunning walnut fingerboard complete with 20 frets and classic dot position inlays for clear navigation.
Fishman Pickup System
For when you want to amplify the Newporter with minimal fuss the low-profile Fishman preamp/pickup system is immediately on hand. Simply use a jack lead to connect to your desired acoustic amplifier or mixing desk and you will hear the natural tone of the Newporter with no sacrifice of sound whatsoever.
Finally, add in a stunning walnut new Viking bridge and sealed nickel tuning machines and you have an epic electro-acoustic that will be on top of its game for many years to come.

To my ear it sounds great, and although it is a thicker body than an electric I think it is on the smaller side for an acoustic and thus an easier transition.
Now having fun not having to plug in to play, and dodge my sons booby trapping of my amplifier (he likes to turn all the knobs up to 11!)
