The Fender Player Lead II Electric Guitar in Crimson Red Transparent is a reissue of a guitar that was designed in response to high-quality, low-priced import guitars of the late 70s. Attractive to players thanks to the feel of the neck and unique pickup options, the Lead II incorporates qualities from both the Strat and Tele style guitars, whilst still creating its own unique look and sound. Kicking off a fresh creative era in Fender's history, these guitars make a welcome return in 2020 and are sure to appeal to a wide variety of players and playing styles.

Alder Body

The Fender Player Lead II is similar to a Strat with its double cutaways but you'll notice they're slightly less pronounced than what you'd find on a typical Strat. Composed of Alder the body will impart a balanced tone with a wide variety of tonal possibilities. Alder is a very typical tonewood for Fender guitars so it's no surprise to find it on this guitar, it's light enough that you won't feel it on your shoulder after a long show but dense enough to provide a nice tonality.

'C' is for Comfort

The Maple neck of the Player Lead II is shaped to the Modern 'C' profile, to ensure a sleek fit in hand. Medium Jumbo frets make playing on this guitar a joyful experience, with a 22 fret Maple fretboard marked by Black Dot inlays to ensure you never lose your way. The Pau Ferro fretboard delivers a tone that sits somewhere between Rosewood and Mahogany, resulting in a balanced sound.

Player Series Pickups

The Fender Player Lead II features two Player Series Alnico 5 Strat Single-Coil pickups in an unusual configuration. With two single coils you get a very Strat-like sound that's twangy with good action in the higher registers. The Fender Player Series Alnico 5's are very well balanced and you can get some distinct sounds thanks to the dual-toggle switches which let you add phase-reversal to the pickup configuration.

Hardwearing Hardware

The Player Lead II features Vintage-Style tuning machines to ensure rock-solid tuning stability. The Bridge is a 6-saddle string through with block saddles, allowing for easy action and intonation adjustment so you can set the guitar to your playing style. A Master Volume and Tone controls with Knurled Flat-Top knobs allow you to sculpt your sound, so you can play pretty much any style with one of these guitars.

The Fender Player Lead II Electric Guitar in Crimson Red Transparent offers style, power and versatility in a comfortable, easy-to-play package. With some all-new colours as well as some period-correct finishes, this sleek reissue of a Fender classic will give you all the well known Fender playability and reliability with a unique look and sound.
