The Fender Player Series Left Handed Precision Bass Guitar is the modern incarnation of one of Fender’s many classic guitar designs. The Precision Bass was the original electric bass guitar, and following its introduction, the era of bassists hauling huge upright basses across the country swiftly ended. This current version is largely unchanged from that original design - a testament to just how ‘right’ Leo Fender got it on the first attempt.
The Player Series P-Bass is built around the familiar ingredients of the ‘50s model. The body is an alder, double cutaway design, with the smooth, ergonomic curves with which Fender is synonymous. Here, the urethane finish is expectedly smooth with a contrasting parchment scratchplate.
The neck is a maple, bolt-on design, as you would expect from Fender, with a Maple fingerboard on this model. Shaped to a modern ‘C’ profile, and with 20 frets, the neck’s satin finish ensures a great playing experience, without unwanted ‘stickiness’ that can sometimes build up over longer performances.
The split coil pickup is one of the Player Series P-Bass’s most distinctive features. This model is loaded with Standard series split-coil pickup, wired via simple master volume and master tone control knobs, with electronics shielded inside the body cavity.
There are many reasons that the Precision Bass has been such an enduring design, but by and large, it’s down to two things: it plays brilliantly and sounds great. The classic, punchy, full tones are as usable now as they were in the 1950s, and (as with all Fenders) it has the kind of supremely ‘engineered’ feel of a tool designed perfectly for its purpose, and designed to last a lifetime of use, too.
The Fender Player Series Precision Bass Guitar is a genuine, bass icon reborn for a new generation to appreciate all over again.
