The Fender Standard Stratocaster HSH Electric Guitar delivers a guitar that rewards players of all skill levels with a sumptuous playability, and astonishing tonal versatility. Fender has expertly crafted the model to the same original Strat design that has made it the choice of many legends for decades, whilst including modern appointments to exceed the expectations of even the most discerning of players. Add some raw power into the mix and you've got something very special indeed.

The shapely curvature of the alder body is undeniably cool. Gracing some of the biggest stages and most exclusive studios around the world for over 60 years, it is also one of the most comfortable body profiles ever designed - and has seen its fair share of imitators, but no one does it quite like Fender. Though it may be lightweight, alder is renowned for producing a complex tonal palette that handles its tonality with the utmost grace. Alder is so good, Fender has favoured it as their primary body tonewood for decades across many of their models. Finished in sophisticated black, you can rest assured that the lovely paint job will remain pristine for years to come thanks to a subtle coating of gloss polyester.

In keeping with Strat tradition, a sturdy maple neck has been fitted to the body, and shaped to the delightfully comfortable modern "C" profile. Married to the neck is a responsive rosewood fingerboard, home to 21 medium-jumbo frets that reward fast-playing fingers. The neck is finished in satin urethane along the back, which helps to prevent it from becoming sticky during performances so that you can glide along with ease.

As the title would suggest, the Standard Strat HSH is equipped with two humbuckers - in the neck and bridge positions -, and a single-coil - in the middle position. The 5-way pickup selector switch makes it easy - yet highly intricate - to select pickups individually, or in combination with each other for ready access to a plethora of tones. Further tone shaping can be executed using the two tone pots, and the level adjusted using the volume pot. If you're looking for choice, then you definitely aren't short-changed with this setup.

Fender didn't stop there though. The second tone pot also acts as a coil-splitting push/pull switch, which leaves the outside coils active. Therefore, you tonal universe suddenly expands significantly, giving you access to grittier single-coil tones as well as the sublime warmth of the humbuckers - perfect if you're looking for a versatile recording/gigging model.

As you'd expect of a Fender Strat, a vintage-style synchronised tremolo bridge has been fitted, which enables you to infuse your performances with vibrato - as well as maintaining intonation accurately. The standard cast/sealed tuning machines dutifully uphold tuning integrity, whilst the synthetic bone nut maintains string tension to guarantee a uniform playing feel throughout.

The Fender Standard Stratocaster HSH Electric Guitar offers something truly special. Whether you're a session player, a gigging guitarist, or are totally new to the instrument, you have everything you need to shape/craft/carve/personalise your tonal at the flick of a switch/turn of a pot. What more could you ask for?

Very good guitar for the money.
Posted on 26/05/2017 by Texas T Very versatile with a lot different tones to suit any genre.

When set-up and the intonation set accurately, the guitar is very easy to play, and the alder body has a nice sustain with good resonance.

I have a lot of guitars, but I am sure that this HSH will soon become one of my favourites.
