The Fender Modern Player Telecaster in Honeyburst is probably the most original take on the Telecaster there has been in years. Three pickups (in an HSS configuration), a coil-tapping switch for the humbucker and most unusually - a pine body. The pine not only looks fantastic, as the grain shines beautifully through the finish, but it also offers up new tonal possibilities, a true modern take on tradition.

Thankfully, with all these interesting appointments, the guitar still looks, feels and plays like a classic Tele. The pickguard, neck pickup, chrome dome tone/volume pots and neck are all in keeping with traditional Telecaster models while the added middle pickup offers Strat tone and the bridge humbucker offers powerful leads (and switchable single coil sounds). The Fender Modern Player Telecaster still retains excellent versatility when it comes to sound and packs that classic Tele punch that everyone loves.

Familiar playing experience

The C-shaped maple neck is comfortable to play and the maple fretboard with 22 jumbo frets and a relatively modern 9.5" radius make for a truly Fender playing experience, which is one of the reasons that Fender guitars have always been a players favourite. This Modern Player Tele Plus is certainly full of little surprises that will help you to create the perfect tone for any playing situation, and it looks really amazing too.

Sheer versatility, fused with simple control is what defines this unique Fender Modern Player Telecaster. All the alterations are subtle to the eye, and powerful under the bonnet which is a sign of great design, and for the price this is simply an amazing deal. Finally, Fender have long had a reputation for building 'bomb proof' guitars, so you can be sure that this would be a purchase for life, quite simply a stunning guitar.

Posted on 08/10/2017 by StaffordEd Just bought this guitar and the fender purist may cringe at the addition of the humbucker, but it adds to the range of tones you can achieve. I am not an expert but the standard tones on this machine are crisp and clean. When you apply crunch/distortion with the humbucker engaged I found the sound better than I can achieve with my Epiphone Les Paul Standard. I think my Les Paul will spend much more time on the stand.
Posted on 08/07/2015 by 118 118 I immediately changed the strings but that's my personal preference nothing to do with the guitar. Had it about three weeks and really enjoy just reaching out to pick it up as it is a delight to play. I play all kinds of stuff and this guitar suits pretty much most of what I play with its pickups. Jumbo frets are excellent, it plays very easy and machine heads seem to be very good also, I've never had vintage before.

I would and already have recommended this guitar to other players. The price is really good considering the price of guitars!

Don't be put off by the China thing as its not some fake guitar, it's a fine crafted instrument. Fender wouldn't put their name to rubbish and after 3 weeks easily my best guitar purchase overall. Still havent come accross any faults to note.

Get on it....I'm on it.
Posted on 27/12/2014 by python74 Bought this guitar from Dawsons in Belfast today and am delighted with it. Beautiful, yet very different tones from each pick-up. Split humbucker gives this an edge I've never found on any other telecaster - and I've been playing them for 23 years. Generally a very well thought out and super versatile tele. I'd looked at it on this website but I still never thought it would be this good. Very well set up guitar and a real beauty to look at as well as play. Staff in Dawsons were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful, Very pleased with this one. For the money this is an unbelievable guitar. Give it a try.
Posted on 26/04/2014 by Alex Just picked this up today from the Huddersfield store, great service as always. Wasn't aware about the flexible payment options for finance, got the guitar, a hard case, new strings and strap locks for less than £30 a month for 12 months, bargain! Excellent guitar and staff were very helpful. 10\10
Posted on 27/06/2013 by Wooly Amazing, just amazing, neck is so comfy, vintage machine heads (reliable) and of course the tonal possibilities of this guitar are just outstanding! I’ve figured 7 different tones so far ranging from punk/metal on the humbucker to country to blues to jazz and everything in between, coil tap on the humbucker is great really adds the classic Tele 'Twang' to it, only got it yesterday and I’ve not put it down! Highly recommend this Tele.

Don’t be put off by the 'crafted in China', it is amazing for the silly price that it is!! Well done Fender! If you have any sense about you, get yourself down to Dawsons!!!!!
Posted on 16/10/2012 by Dan When I went to buy the brand new Squier mustang this summer one of these caught my eye. Reluctantly, I picked it up expecting it to be just like any other telecaster. How wrong I was. The 5 way pickup selector brings up some excellent sounds. It has a standard tele pickup for a warm rich clean tone as well as a strat pickup if you want something a bit sharper. The humbucker on the bridge is brilliant, the only problem being the coil tap switch, which has no purpose at all and does nothing great to the sound when in single mode. the guitar itself is excellent. The bridge is a standard fender hard tail, showing that fender haven't bothered with a tremolo (something in a guitar that I hate!) and that they are very serious about this guitar. So, it has modern technology and sound as well as that classic telecaster look (can't fault the paint job) and tone! Get one if you can!
Posted on 04/03/2012 by Ross I play melodic, punk, metal style guitar and Teles have that great twangy sound so I gave some a play. This one didn't disappoint, sounds incredible, bright and meaty all at the same time. Even at high gains the notes are clear and prominent, looks really cool and plays beautifully. Would recommend this to anyone fancying a slightly different guitar at a good price.
