The Fender "The Edge" Stratocaster Signature Electric Guitar in Black, is the working instrument of U2's legendary guitarist, replacing his prized vintage models onstage, around the world. Arguably one of the most influential guitarists in the modern era, The Edge's tone has helped to shape the rock and pop music landscape for decades, and the Fender Strat has been his guitar of choice for many of those years.
Sweet Strat Style
The Edge's Strat is based on the iconic '70s models, with ergonomically shaped contours and bevelled edges to make it exceptionally comfortable to perform with. The body The body is constructed from alder, a tonewood that has been favoured by Fender for decades. Nostalgia aside it sounds great; the Fat 50's are the best Strat pickups I have ever heard paired with my Vox AC10.
Feels perfect in my hands, looks the part with its subtle green pickguard, and '70s style headstock.
My only gripe is that it really should come with 10 gauge strings instead of 9's, as Edge uses 10's on his own.
It plays really well and the shaped heel makes for easy access with high notes at the fiddly end of the neck.
It's a US strat, with an artist signature on it, but its not quirky or limited to sounding only like the artist. it is versatile and for £1200 or thereabouts its about the same price as other new range US strats.
I love it and I've not picked up any of my other guitars in the month i have owned it!
