The Gibson Flying V Electric Guitar in Antique Natural is the latest edition of the incomparable Flying V model, revered by legions of guitarists for its iconic looks and incredible playability. Originally envisaged in 1958 the Flying V took inspiration from late 50s Cadillacs and Chryslers to make a design far more exotic than had ever been seen before.
The Gibson Flying V body is crafted from solid Mahogany, just like the original models first issued in the late 50s. The result is a warmth of tone with defined low end, clear-cut mids and a smooth high end. The punchy growl of Mahogany has been favoured by rock and metal players for a long time, however, the Flying V is more than a one trick pony and was the guitar of choice for blues legend Albert King.
Slim Taper Playability
A Mahogany neck combines with the body tonewood to make a guitar that has tonnes of sustain to really let those riffs ring out. Married to the neck is a Rosewood fretboard with 22 frets marked by Acrylic Dots to give you a smooth and effortlessly comfortable playing surface. The body design of the Flying V inherently gives excellent upper fret access, perfect for fast lead licks and big blues string bends.
The Gibson Flying V has a pair of specially calibrated Burstbucker pickups with Alnico II magnets to give you all those classic rock, blues and metal tones utilised by legendary players the world over. With the characteristic Burstbucker bite you get clarity and depth of tone whether you're riffing or tremolo picking. In the neck position, you have the Burstbucker 2, with a medium output that makes for a versatile array of styles and a variety of tones. In the bridge position, there is a Burstbucker 3, a hot, high output pickup that gives a soaring lead and rhythm sound.
An Aluminium Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge works in conjunction with the Grover Rotomatics tuning machines to ensure rock solid intonation and unrivalled tuning stability. An Aluminium Stop Bar holds the strings in place and Black Top Hats with Silver Reflectors match the period correct finish to complete the classic look. A front mounted jack plate allows you to easily find the input on even the darkest of stages.
The Gibson Flying V Electric Guitar in Antique Natural is a guitar that will turn heads wherever you go, the classic aesthetic matched with killer tone making for a lethal combination whether you're on stage or in the studio.
