The Gibson SG Standard 61 Sideways Vibrola in Vintage Cherry gives the capability for vibrato to the classic SG Standard 61 setup. The iconic design of the Sideways Vibrola has been utilised by Angus Young and Mary Ford to name a few, giving you the ability to add texture to your music alongside the core SG sonic versatility.
Mahogany 'Horns' Style Body
Those classic double cutaway 'horns' are well known the world over. From Zappa to Iommi the SG has been synonymous with an array of professional players since it's inception and those striking looks have changed little since then. With an all Mahogany body construction, you get a warmth of tone and bags of sustain that's characteristic of the SG style guitar. Known for being a versatile workhorse the SG Standard 61 is comfortable with an assortment of styles, so whether you're playing metal, hard rock or even jazz this guitar can handle it all.
Slim Taper Neck
Joined to the double cutaway body is a Slim Taper profile Mahogany neck. Working in conjunction with the body the neck allows bends to ring out, fast legato to come with ease and riffing aplenty. The Rosewood fretboard is smooth and comfortable with 22 frets to ensure you hit every note when playing. The Acrylic Trapezoid inlays give you those classic Gibson whilst ensuring you never lose your way on even the darkest of stages.
The Gibson SG Standard 61 has a pair of Burstbucker 61 pickups with Alnico V magnets, to give you all those classic rock and blues tones utilised by legendary players the world over. With the characteristic Burstbucker bite you get clarity and depth of tone whether you're chicken or tremolo picking. The electronics have audio taper potentiometers and are hand wired with Orange Drop Capacitors to ensure consistent and quality tone, having been used by Gibson for years for good reason.
Alongside the ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, typical of 60s era Gibsons, with the SG Standard 61, you get a Sideways Vibrola tailpiece that gives you smooth vibrato flutters and dips, giving texture to your playing and allowing you to embellish and accentuate chords as well as single note playing. Differing from a traditional tremolo in that you move it sideways rather than up and down, the idea behind the design is to give you an easier time moving it whilst playing as you can use a single finger to manipulate instead of your whole hand.
The Gibson SG standard 61 Sideways Vibrola in Vintage Cherry is a continuation of the popular SG range, originally introduced to rival another famous double cutaway solid body guitar. Combining a classic voice with modern power this guitar is adept at a variety of styles and will allow you to express yourself through your playing to your utmost capacity.
