The Gibson The Paul 40th Anniversary Limited Run Electric Guitar in Walnut Vintage Gloss pays tribute to late '70s model. Originally released back in 1978, "The Paul" was styled on the classic Les Paul but featured subtle differences with regard to the tonewoods used, electronics setup and its natural finish - affectionately referred to as "Coffee Table Burst" due to its distinct appearance.
The Paul 40th anniversary model is built just as it was back in the day, featuring a non-weight relieved walnut body. Shaped to the classic single-cutaway body profile that we've all come to know and love, this guitar is as solid as they come. The stripped-back setup means that you get the tonal prowess you'd expect from a Les Paul without superfluous accoutrements. Tonally The Paul boasts a beefy midrange character skirted by chunky lows and crisp highs. The walnut has been coated with a layer of vintage gloss that preserves the finish for as long as possible.
Solid and reliable neck
Joined to the body is a robust walnut neck, which is shaped to a rounded profile for a substantial feel in the hand. The generous 24.75-inch scale length allows the strings to resonate fully to establish depth and warmth throughout every note. Married to the neck is a luxurious rosewood fingerboard, which bears 22 frets that are decorated with acrylic dot position inlays to guide your way. The 12-inch fingerboard radius allows you to execute elaborate technique with the greatest of ease. If you're taking to the stage, the neck and fingerboard setup makes it a breeze to run through licks and riffs like a champ.
Classic humbucker pickups
The 40th Anniversary "Paul" is equipped with a pair of humbuckers comprising a 490R in the neck position and a 498T in the bridge position. The 490R is an Alnico II magnet powered pickup that expresses a deeply saturated midrange character for chunky blues-inspired tones. The 498T is an Alnico V magnet that produces a significantly hotter output that is perfect for those who want to throw down epic solos and searing lead licks with gusto. Independent volume and tone controls allow you to shape and tailor your output to suit any and every musical style. A three-way pickup selector toggle switch allows you to pull a wide range of tones from the pickups with minimal effort.
The headstock is home to Grover Rotomatic tuning machines with keystone buttons, which uphold tuning integrity dutifully and work alongside the TekToid nut to solidify stability and tension. Fitted to the body is an aluminium Nashville tune-o-matic bridge and aluminium stopbar tailpiece, which work in partnership to anchor each string securely for optimised intonation and sustain.
Each model is supplied with a hardshell case to keep your Gibson "The Paul" 40th Anniversary Limited Run electric guitar in Walnut Vintage Gloss protected in style whether at home or on the go.
