Gretsch's 2020 range of guitars have raised the bar even further than previous years. The "Rat Rod" is what Gretsch describe as a rock and roll machine. Built with one purpose in mind, the "Rat Rod" has all the features associated with its more expensive brethren but at a smaller price.
Sweet Maple sounds
The body of the G5410T is made up of Arched Maple top and Arched Maple back with Maple back and sides. The Maple will add a heady resonance and snappy tone to your sound. The body is hollow adding a further resonant sustain to your sound and at only 2.25" is much more playable than previous versions. The Hollow body also adds extra projection to your sound giving that little boost to your overall volume. The headstock is finished in a matching matte and adorned with the classic Gretsch logo.
A classic neck
The Gretsch G5410T neck is made from a solid Maple with a 12" Rosewood neck perfect for whole tone bends and shredding. The Pearloid Neo-Classical inlays are a beautiful addition to the fretboard and a finesse tot he overall look of the guitar. The frets are Medium Jumbo and there are 22 of them to work with.
Dual Filter'tron Pickups
The Gretsch G5410T is powered by Gretsch's own Filter'tron pickups. The Filter'tron pickups have a wide-ranging sound which produces an honest rock and roll tone. Great for rock and pop these are not only great sounding but the red top adds an aesthetic flair to the hardware. Versatile upgraded controls including master volume with treble bleed circuit, master tone, neck and bridge pickup volume controls and three-way toggle switch
The look of love
Gretsch is renowned for producing some of the best-looking instruments in Rock and Roll and in part this is due to their partnership with Bigsby. The tremolo maker produces distinctive and decorative tremolos systems that perfectly compliment Gretsch' retro look and feel. The Bigsby B60 is capable of subtle vibrato while holding tuning stability. The vintage-style open-back tuners are also able to hold tuning accuracy while maintaining the aesthetic of the "Rat Rod".
The Gretsch G5410T "Rat Rod" is a hollow body masterpiece and in true Gretsch tradition a steal at the price. The finish to the hardware is the epitome of modern retro and is the logical step up for the beginner to a more professional sound. Gretsch although highly stylised are still extremely relevant across genres and leave the player to make their stamp.
