As part of their Roots collection, the Gretsch G9200 Boxcar round-neck resonator guitar remains faithful to its original 1930’s début, delivering a sublime vintage feel alongside modern appointments. With over 130 years experience in crafting high-quality instruments, Gretsch has done an excellent job of ensuring today’s guitarists have a budget-friendly model that has classic resonator tones and can handle modern demands.
In order to create a tough, reliable body, Gretsch has used laminated mahogany to craft the back, sides and top. Not only does this create a deeply reassuringly sturdy feel, but laminate woods stand up well to changes in temperature and humidity, making the G9200 an ideal choice for travelling musicians.
A vital feature in delivering the classic Gretsch resonator sounds, the G9200 includes the all-new Gretsch "Ampli-Sonic" diaphragm (resonator cone), which is hand-spun in Eastern Europe from nearly 99-percent pure aluminium, yielding an impressive tonality with a vast dynamic range. Completing the awesome projection abilities of the guitar, Gretsch has shaped the top with authentic F-holes, which also help to achieve the sophisticated authentic vintage finish.
Fitted to the body is a sturdy mahogany neck, which is shaped to an authentic soft "V", making it a very comfortable neck to navigate. A semi-gloss honey mahogany stain creates a cool vintage-style finish that seamlessly blends the neck and body. Married to the neck is a sumptuous rosewood fingerboard complete with 19 medium-jumbo frets. Beautiful pearloid dot position inlays aid in your navigation across the fingerboard, whilst the 15.75" radius is perfect for executing a variety of techniques on - especially if you're playing slide.
The body bears the fantastic spider-ebony-tipped maple bridge, which ensures a seamless connection between strings and body for optimum intonation, and perfect string action. The bone nut maintains string tension accurately - a must for ensuring a consistent playing feel. The classic 1930's Gretsch headstock with aged pearloid face, is home to a 3x3 arrangement of Grover Sta-Tite die-cast tuning machines, which perform exceptionally at carrying out the task of upholding tuning integrity.
If you've always coveted that unique resonator sound that harks back to classic blues, bluegrass and country, then look no further then the excellent Gretsch G9200 Boxcar round-neck resonator guitar.

- Had it a day - definitely a keeper!
Such a clear tone when fingerpicking, great smooth tuners - I have had it in 5 different tunings so far without any effort.
Sounds like playing a regular small body mahogany guitar and a biscuit tin with strings at the same time, an odd combo that works.
Gave it 5 stars...worth every penny.
