For 135 years Gretsch have been making musical instruments with one common quality, great sound. The Gretsch brand has been through various turmoil and had something of a rebirth when the Gretsch family repurchased the company in 1984. Since then the Gretsch name has grown from strength to strength with highly constructed amazing sounding guitars. With the brand now synonymous with their collaboration with Bigsby tremolos, Gretsch has not a distinctive look but a distinctive advantage over the competition with their modern retro look with up to date electronics.
Pure Jetsons
Gretsch Limited Edition G2622T P90 Electric Guitar simply looks outstanding. From headstock to rear strap button the G5232T looks simply stunning. The range of eye-catching colour choices, the high gloss of the back and neck make this guitar look elegant and give a hint to the love and detail paid by the Gretsch team when crafting these instruments.
The intimate sparkle within the paintwork adds a touch of glamour to an already highly crafted guitar. The Gretsch exudes class with its short symmetrical horns and tapered headstock. The pearloid Big Block inlays add a touch of classic braggadocio to the fretboard so the player knows where they are on the fretboard there are also black dot markers along the top of the neck top indicate position.
Spruce Block
The Gretsch body and arched top help the Gretsch breath a sparkling resonance into its sound. The centre Spruce block houses the P90s giving an added resonance to the classic pickups. Giving a loud acoustic tone the upper and lower bout chambers allows the passing of tonality more freely to the body and helps with volume and sustain. The Archtop is a simple yet subtle aesthetic that brings out an air of distinction to this beautiful guitar.
Bigsby Tremolo
The most noticeable feature of the Gretsch is the silver bridge and tremolo system from Bigsby. A timeless classic design used throughout generations of musicians from The Beatles Pop music to Jazz players to rock and alternative, the Bigsby tremolo has had a long association with Gretsch and rightly so. Allowing the player to shape and influence the tones they produce with subtle vibrato or deep dives. Owning a piece of musical history is one of the clear attractions to owning this guitar.
Indian Summer
The neck is made of Mahogany and the body is laminated Maple making it light while retaining the balanced register of the Maple. The fingerboard is made from Indian Laurel which is in perfect balance to the Maple body, maintaining that bright strong tone adding a nice balance to the body. The fingerboard radius is 12" making it quite flat compared to say a Fender Strat allowing the player to bend the strings without choke. The Body and the neck have white and black binding maintaining the high-quality finish already seen in the colour and gloss. The nut is made from Graphtec Nubone which keeps the accuracy of string division the most accurate.
Classic P90 Soapbar Tone.
The Soapbar P90s add a retro vibe to the look while maintaining that modern fat sound. Married to the brighter spruce centre and Laurel fingerboard the P90s allow a certain grit and growl to the normally snappy tone of the Gretsch. With their classic cream colour helping to compliment the candy apple red finish and gold hardware the Gretsch G2622T looks amazing.
Gretsch Limited Edition G2622T P90 Electric Guitar is a stunning instrument and comes in a modern stylish and exclusive Midnight Sapphire with a sparkle finish to the front and high gloss finish to the back and neck. This is simply one of the best looking guitars out there and it's little wonder why generations of professional musicians choose Gretsch. This is an amazing guitar that combines the best elements of construction and sound to produce a stunning instrument ideal for the gigging musician or the hobbyist looking for a gorgeous new addition to their instrument range.
