Fender Electric Guitars

We have all heard of the Telecaster, right? What about the Stratocaster? Two of the most iconic guitar models that have spawned so many recreations and has influenced guitar construction in one form or another for over half a century. When a design like that comes along you know that you have got something special.

The Telecaster is one of the most robust guitars that you can get. That aside, in its lifetime the Tele’ as its affectionately known has been butchered and tweaked in every conceivable way with a myriad of hardware setups, electronic appointments, and innumerable finishes to mention. Country players rely on its sparkling twanginess (yeah, that is a word) and modern post-hardcore two-hand tapping experimentalists love it for the same reason, along with its delightfully comfortable neck/fingerboard combo. Sink some humbuckers in it like Jim Root however, and you’ve a very different beast altogether. Versatility? Completed it mate.

The Stratocaster is an equally revered guitar and the go-to for legends aplenty. Hendrix, Gilmour, Clapton, SRV, Blackmore, Rogers, etc. – it would take less time to name those who have not fallen under the spell of the Strat. So good is its design that beefed up models from competitors (of which there are plenty) come under the umbrella of “superstrat”. There is just something delightful about the sweet ergonomic shape that allows the Stratocaster to rest snugly against your body as you play. Much like the Tele’ it is as versatile as they come, and prices range from affordable to ‘I might have to save up for that’.

For those who like to go a step further with the switching capabilities at their disposal, there is always the Jazzmaster and Jaguar, favourites of J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. and Johnny Marr, respectively. Some might find it easy to drop them into the category of guitars for experimental players, but they are so coveted by such artists are they accommodate their search for unique tone. Facilitated by greater switching options the Jazzmaster and Jaguar puts greater tonal control at their fingertips rather than faffing with anything else. Not only that but the bite that you get from a Jag through a cranked-up amp is something else.

For those who prefer a lighter and more compact body shape, the Mustang and Duo Sonic fit the bill perfectly. Notable players of the Mustang are John Frusciante, Thurston Moore, Kurt Cobain, and Omar Rodriguez Lopez. Powered by a pair of single-coils and shaped with an elegant offset-waist design, the short-scale neck/fingerboard partnership decreases string tension whilst retaining the same pitch. Therefore, making it easier to play for those with smaller hands and much easier to bend the strings too.

Whether you go with a Mexican, USA or Japanese built guitar, a production line piece or Fender Short Run (FSR) limited edition, or handcrafted Custom Shop model, the key to Fender’s outstanding reputation is that you can rest assured that each one is built with steadfast dedication to making it the absolute best that it can be.
