The Ibanez GSR180-BK bass guitar in black is a great entry-level model that offers a tonally versatile bass from a guitar building giant at an incredible price.

Select Mahogany Body

In creating the GSR180, Ibanez have elected to use lightweight mahogany in the construction of the body. Mahogany has a pronounced mid to low-end rumble that is perfect for those who prefer their tone to have some meat on its bones - particularly metallers and rockers. The contoured body shape allows it to sit snugly against the body during performances, whilst the double-cutaway profile enables greater access to the upper frets.

GSR4 Profile Maple Neck

The perfectly proportioned GSR4 profile maple neck counters the low-end rumble of the mahogany beautifully, yielding a cutting mid to upper range snap. Married to the neck is a generously proportioned rosewood fingerboard, which carries 22-frets. The fingerboard makes sure that each note rings out articulately, and however you attack the strings - e.g. slap, funk, fingerpicked, flat-picked - your technique is reproduced accurately.

Pair of Passive PSNDJ Pickups

The GSR180 is equipped with passive PSNDJ pickups in the neck and bridge positions, offering a wide range of tones, which are all achievable by using the delightfully simple control setup consisting of a master tone control, and two volume level controls for each pickup.

Finding the perfect tone for your performance couldn’t be easier. For example, if you’re looking for a fat, saturated tone, then drop the high end, boost the low, and ramp up the bridge pickup level to get a beefy metal snarl. Alternatively, if you’re looking for a much tighter response, adjust the tone control to put the emphasis on mid to high frequencies, roll back the bridge pickup, turn up the neck pickup, and you’re in business. The setup is very simple, and those who’re new to the bass will be plucking out a tone to suit them in next to no time.

Solid Hardware Appointments

The solid B10 bridge secures each string firmly, allowing you to get on with the task of performing with total confidence in your setup. The tuning machines carry out their task meticulously, so that once you tune up and get going, you need only concentrate on playing.

The Ibanez GSR180-BK bass guitar has everything you need to get your musical journey off to a flying start.

Posted on 19/12/2017 by Great lightweight bass, nice small neck. Sounds phenomenal. I can't recommend enough. Especially at this price
Posted on 01/05/2016 by I've had this bass since November last year and I have to say its excellent. I picked it mainly due to its smaller neck and fret size as I have small hands, but the tone it produces is amazing and it has great versatility in terms of genres it can play.

For the price point, I can't think of many more guitars that get the job done like this does.
