Description

Details

The Ibanez RGDIX6MPB Iron Label Electric Guitar in Surreal Blue Burst is part of the highly regarded RGD series. However, it boasts some unique appointments and a build unlike its close relatives. There are still some instantly recognisable RG series features on hand, including deep double cutaways for superior upper neck access, and bevelled edges to create a comfortable playing position for the picking hand. These are now accompanied by a longer 26.5-inch scale length along the neck to optimise sustain - great for soaring leads and thunderous rhythm chops. To top it all off, a dazzling Surreal Blue Burst finish gives this beauty a striking aesthetic that commands attention.

Exotic tonewood partnership

As mentioned, the RGDIX6MPB model has a very different body construction to that of its peers. This Iron Label guitar has a Poplar Burl top which offers a comfortable, lightweight feel as well as having a striking pattern. The exotic top sits just above the natural, layered ash body, giving the RGDIX6MPB an alluring, boutique feel. The pairing of these tonewoods project a full-bodied sound output with a wealth of varying tones at your fingertips.

Nitro Wizard neck profile

A special feature of the RGDIX6MPB Iron Label guitar is its extra-long scale neck measuring in at 26.5-inches, which improves sustain by allowing the strings a greater distance to resonate more freely. The neck is constructed out of a maple/bubinga partnership, and shaped to the ultra-slim Nitro Wizard profile. RGD series guitars allow you to experiment with a wide range of different tunings, and offer an incredibly thick tone when using drop tunings, perfect for slab-like rock riffs and lightning-fast metal licks.

Married to the neck is a birdseye maple fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets that are free of adornments for an elegant yet understated finish. The cutaway horns in the body enable an easy reach to the upper frets, giving your fingers complete freedom of movement across the two-octave range.

DiMarzio Fusion Edge pickups

To amplify the RGDIX6MPB electric guitar, Ibanez have fitted it with DiMarzio Fusion Edge humbucking pickups, which were the brainchild of both Ibanez and DiMarzio. These are the chosen pickups for the RGDIX6MPB Iron Label because of their ability to produce a myriad of articulate tones while also ensuring a smooth response at all levels.

Hardware and finish

The RGDIX6MPB is fitted with a Gibraltar Standard II bridge which creates a seamless connection between the strings and body to optimise intonation and sustain. You can rest assured that once in position, you can hammer the strings as hard as you wish and your tone will remain preserved with precision.

The headstock is equipped with Gotoh locking machine head tuners, upholding tuning integrity for each string. Black hardware offers a contrast against the light maple neck and sub-layer of the body, combined with the Surreal Blue Burst finish.

The Ibanez RGDIX6MPB Iron Label Electric Guitar is an awesome new model for 2016, which has an appearance and playing feel of a boutique model. Endowed with premium appointments, this beauty is an absolute steal this price.

Reviews
Posted on 07/09/2019 by this guitar provides a heavy sound and an incredible playing speed with its nitro wizard neck. Its scale length feels just right making quick slides and movements a doddle. Its cutouts and curves are overall tantalisingly attractive and it provides great comfort. It is a hefty guitar compared to others but I found it not to be an issue even when standing up. Its action feels perfect for fast playing as it is very low even when unchanged (in my case). It does not have a lot of controls, only a volume and pickup switcher but I wouldn't even want to change the tone as it just sounds impeccably clear and you just cant help making a stanky, ugly guitar face when you hit that perfect bend :)
