Details
The Ibanez SR300E Bass builds on the foundation of the S300EB and adds a new 3-way powertap switching system for an even richer harmonic detail and incredible expression. The SR300E Spot Run still retains all of the lightweight comfort that this range of basses is well known for and remains one of the most versatile basses available today.
Lightweight Comfort
The SR300E body is built using solid mahogany, a lightweight tonewood that shares similar tonal characteristics to the more expensive mahogany. Mahogany delivers a wide-ranging tonal output, with a low to midrange rumble served with smooth high-end shimmer. The lightweight nature of mahogany makes it much easier to wield for longer amounts of time, perfect for those who're developing their technical abilities and great for gigging musicians who want an easy to play bass.
SR4 profile neck
Ibanez neck profiles are amongst the most coveted in the world of guitar manufacturing, and the 5-piece maple/rosewood creation on the SR300E Spot Run is no exception. Built to deliver the most accessible and fast-playing profile possible - whilst ensuring that string resonance is given the perfect platform - this neck is a dream to play.
The 24-fret rosewood fingerboard opens up a world of creativity and exploration. The neck and fingerboard tonal characteristics balance out the overall tone of the bass by giving the mid to treble range more depth, as well as a fast attack when executing slap or picking techniques.
Versatile electronics
The SR300E Spot Run is fitted with the powerful PowerSpan Dual Coil neck pickups in the neck and bridge positions. The enhanced Style Sweeper EQ section - with specific Bass, Mid and Treble EQ controls - gives you enormous control over the pickups, allowing you to craft your sound so that you can dip in and out of any musical style/genre you desire.
The addition of the new powertap system allows for quick switching between the characteristic output of the dual coil pickups. It does this by allowing you to enter tap mode, which has the sound of a classic single-coil, a series mode for fat bottom-end humbucker tones and power tap to combine the modes for a harmonically rich and responsive sound.
Cosmo black hardware
Sealed die-cast closed-back Ibanez tuners ensure that once you set the tuning you desire, the strings will remain held firmly in position throughout. The chrome B120 bridge ensures a firm connection between the strings and body, so that intonation is maintained accurately across the neck. Ibanez have gone to every effort to ensure that the playing feel of the SR300E is as reliable and responsive as possible, allowing you to develop proper technique with the maximum enjoyment.
Whether you’re new to the bass, or have years of playing experience, the Ibanez SR300E plays like an absolute dream. From a company who are widely celebrated for their innovative models and superb artist signature series instruments, they don’t skimp when it comes to their entry-level gear. The SR300E series basses offer incredible quality for their price, and this model is guaranteed to be with you for many years to come.

The bass is very good indeed; the neck is a joy to play, and the versatility of the power-tap switch is amazing. It is possible to obtain tones akin to a Fender Jazz with the single-coil, and approaching the sound of a Warwick with either of the humbucker settings.
I love this bass, and it is by far the best I've owned. For the price, it is truly good value.
