The Kawai GL-10 acoustic baby grand piano has been treated with the same dutiful care and attention usually regarded for Kawai's much larger - and subsequently, more expensive - GE and RX Series grand pianos. The GL Series is designed to offer peerless performance at more affordable prices, and as we've come to expect, Kawai delivers with aplomb.
Established in the 1920s, Kawai has remained true in their quest for excellence, integrating sophisticated machine-driven manufacturing processes alongside elegant hand-finished appointments with exquisite results. Kawai has furthered the use of sustainable materials, as well as pioneering the development of new materials to supersede traditional wooden parts, in order to make their instruments more resilient in the face of changing humidity and temperature.
At the heart of the piano is the impressive solid quarter-sawn spruce soundboard, which has been hand-selected with extreme care by Kawai's wood technologists before passing rigorous tests. The soundboard transfers the instructions from the keys with absolute precision. Kawai's SOLID (Stretcher Over-Lap Integrated Design) ensures stable string tension, thanks to an intricately executed pinblock, plate, and stretcher bar design. The plate has been vacuum-moulded with a "Crossbone Design" for superior strength and stability. The multi-grip pinblock is fully laminated for maximum toughness and balanced torque. Tuning pins are made from carbon steel and nickel-plated to enhance beauty and guarantee long-term protection.
The steel-reinforced keyslip prevents unwanted warping over time, so that keys avoid sticking and affecting your performance of the integrity of the piano. The steel-reinforced, multi-laminated keybed provides strength whilst optimising energy transfer for a seamless playing experience.
Exclusive Millennium III action
The GL-10 includes Kawai's ABS-Carbon technology, which combines their revolutionary ABS with carbon fibre - making up their unique Millennium III Action. This composite not only increases the strength of the parts within the piano - reportedly making them 90% stronger than traditional wooden parts - but it also has the bonus of making them significantly lighter. You can produce more explosive power with every stroke, and thanks to the lightness of touch, you can move around the piano at lightning speeds with minimal effort. All of this contributes to the delightful playing experience and enables you to perform for a significantly longer period without tiring.
Resilient Playing Surface
The resilient key surfaces are feature acrylic/phenol, which respond beautifully during each performance, returning to its original position with impeccable timing. The keys are weighted, balanced and adjusted according to hammer size, so that an even touch and feel is assured across the keyboard. Each key-top offers a smooth surface area to play on, whilst absorbing perspiration and natural oils to prevent unwanted slipping during a performance.
The delightfully compact nature of the GL-10 makes it a fantastic model for those who wish to have a luxurious Kawai baby grand piano in their home/studio, are limited by space, but do not wish to compromise on sound/build/aesthetic quality.
Each model is supplied with a comprehensive 10 Year Warranty. During years 1, 2, and 3, repairs will be covered on-site at the customers' home - this includes parts and labour.
