The Kawai K-200 upright acoustic piano in beautiful polished mahogany, offers a sumptuous playing experience that belies its highly affordable price tag. Whether you're new to the instrument, or are a seasoned professional with many years of playing under your belt, this model is suited to players of all levels. Established in the 1920s, Kawai has pioneered the use of alternative, sustainable materials, whilst developing sophisticated machine manufacturing processes alongside elegant hand-finished appointments in their pursuit of excellence.
Pioneering Alternative Materials
In the 1970s Kawai's design engineers created ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) as a worthy replacement for wooden parts. Not only has ABS been found to be tougher than wooden parts, but it is also much more resilient in handling changes in both temperature and humidity, which significantly improves the lifespan of the K-200.
Millennium Action III Technology
Taking ABS a step further, Kawai combined it with carbon fibre to create ABS-Carbon, a composite that not only increases the strength of the parts within the piano - reportedly 90% stronger than traditional wooden parts -, but it also has the added bonus of making them lighter. Therefore, explosive power is increased, and deft technique can be executed with minimal effort - this is Kawai’s Millennium Action III technology. In addition to this, each jack has been treated to a microscopic area of surface texture, at the point where it meets the hammer. The jack is made out of carbon and polyacetal - which is far more sensitive and responsive than a traditional wooden jack – giving the player significantly greater dynamic control.
Resilient and Responsive Keyboard
Each key has been treated to a subtle coating of acrylic/phenol, which ensures that the playing feel across the entire keyboard feels crisp and responsive. The keys are weighted, balanced and adjusted according to hammer size, so that an even touch and feel is assured across the keyboard, and all keys return swiftly to their original position. Each key-top is treated to absorb perspiration and natural oils discreetly to prevent unwanted slipping during a performance.
At the heart of the piano is the impressive straight-grained, quarter-sawn, solid spruce soundboard. Kawai's team work meticulously, hand-picking only select pieces with extreme care, and putting them through rigorous testing procedures before implementing them in the K-200's construction. The soundboard transfers the instructions from the keys precisely, and offers a wide dynamic range to play with.
Great care has been taken to deliver a finished product of exceptional quality. The height of the piano stands at a mere 113.5cm (45 inches), which allows the piano to fit discreetly into any environment, whilst producing the fullest and richest timbre possible. The K-200 has additional features such as the “Soft Fall” fallboard, which has a dual-damping mechanism to protect player’s hands and the piano’s finish. There is also an extended music stand that allows you to spread out and display more sheet music whilst you're practising or performing.
The K-200 is completed in polished mahogany would make an excellent addition to any home, classroom or teaching studio. This delightful piano has been specially designed and developed to exceed the performance requirements and expectations of even the most discerning of pianists.
Each model is supplied with a comprehensive 10 Year Warranty. During years 1, 2, and 3, repairs will be covered on-site at the customers' home - this includes parts and labour.
