Back in 1972, ARP instruments were to create a synthesizer that was to echo its success throughout the music industry for decades to come. Used on countless records and in production for nearly a decade the ARP Oyssey will always remain one of the most popular synthesizers of all time.
Now, the Korg ARP Odyssey Duophonic Synthesizer FSQ Bundle is here so that you can have a legendary synth and also a limited-edition ARP colour version of the KORG SQ-1 step sequencer budled together in one epic package.
The power of all 3 revisions
Over time, there were 3 revisions of the ARP Odyssey that utilised 3 different filter types. The 2015 Korg ARP Odyssey Duophonic Synthesizer allows you to access all 3 of these filter types at the flick of a switch! The 12dB/Oct filter of the first model, the 24dB/Oct of the second and the Type III filter of the 3rd model all help to create vastly different sounds that you can change to your liking.
Korg have also included and all new Drive switch to make the VCA distort making the Korg ARP Odyssey capable of delivering some really dirty modern sounds as well as it's more than capable vintage tones.
Better connectivity options
The original 3 models of the ARP Odyssey had used different methods of connectivity. The 2015 Korg ARP Odyssey has added a modern suite of connectivity options including MIDI in, USB-MIDI, a 1/4" headphone jack and an XLR balanced out so that you can send a crystal clear signal through to any desk or PA system for superior live performances.
The Korg ARP Odyssey Duophonic Synth also comes complete with all the required patch cables for you to apply features such as self-feedback and legato, creating huge, powerful tones for you to add to your latest EDM productions.
About the SQ-1
The SQ-1 supports the Hz/V standard as it was initially designed to work with the MS-20. It goes without saying the V/Oct standard is also supported, and the voltage level of the CV output can be specified to suit the device you wish to connect. This versatility means you have much more choice over the range of equipment you can control with the SQ-1. In total, the SQ-1 provides you with two CV/GATE OUT channels, MIDI OUT and USB MIDI, littleBits out (to connect to the Electronics Inc littleBits synth, plus a SYNC IN/OUT channel meaning you can also connect to a monotribe or any of the Volca series.
There are 2 channels available to you on the Korg SQ-1 (A and B). This opens you up to much variety thanks to the selectable modes. You can have channel B follow channel A to provide a 16-step sequence, ignore the order and make the steps play randomly, operate independently of each other use A and B to control different parameters for more complex creations.
Built to last
The Korg SQ-1 is a unit that you will want to take out on the road with you; and the build quality ensures that you can. Sheet metal delivers a sense of classic solidarity that will appeal to musicians old and new. The SQ-1 can be powered from USB or by 2 x AA batteries, no bulky adapters to carry around, just plug in and start sequencing!
