The KORG Wavestate Wave Sequencing Synthesizer allows you to change raw samples into sounds hitherto unimagined. After the legendary Wavestation introduced musicians to the world of Wave Sequencing, KORG has now updated and reimagined their groundbreaking original piece of equipment for a new generation of musicians. Taking inspiration from a diverse range of sources, from groove boxes and modular synths to algorithmic composition, this compact form factor sequencer with 37 full-size keys is here to deliver astonishing, ever-changing sounds with extensive hands-on control.
Wave Sequencing 2.0
With the KORG Wavestate, you now get Wave Sequencing 2.0 which gives you control over the timing, sequence of samples and the melody so that each can be manipulated independently. New characteristics including shapes, gate times and step sequencer values are also present for you to mould to your preference. Each of these is now called a 'Lane' and each Lane has a different number of steps as well as its own start, end and loop points. What this all means is that your samples can evolve organically, even unexpectedly instead of just repeating over and over.
Every time your sequence moves forward, individual Lanes are combined to create the output so a sample can be matched with a different duration, pitch, shape, gate and step sequence value every time it plays. You have complete control to modulate the start end and loop points for every note using velocity, LFOs, envelopes, Mod Knobs or other controllers. You can even have each note in a chord playing something different! Alongside this, you also get a randomise function that changes the step order every time you play with realtime control. Individual steps can be randomly skipped with a modulatable probability from 0 - 100% resulting in a completely unique sound that's responsive to your input.
There are a tonne of knobs and controllers for you to explore with the Wavestate. Filter, envelopes, LFOs and effects are all at your fingertips with dedicated front-panel controls. Eight programmable mod knobs plus Pitch Bend/Modulation Wheels and the unique Vector Joystick give you plenty of scope for realtime expression. The 'Dice' button allows you to generate new sounds utilising intelligent randomization, taking the entire sound or just a part of it to create all-new sounds.
With gigabytes of sample content, the onboard library is a thousand times larger than that of the original Wavestation, giving you an abundance of raw material for Wave Sequences. Samples from Plugin Guru, KORG themselves and a selection from the Kronos and Krome library plus all the old Wavestation samples mean that you'll be hard pushed to run out of content to manipulate any time soon. You can play up to 64 stereo voices with pristine clarity utilising KORG's proprietary anti-aliasing sample playback technology. Layer up to four programs together in a performance, each with their own effects and arpeggiator with the incredible synthesis power of the Wavestation.
Filters and Effects
Add vintage character to your sounds with the MS-20 Lowpass or Highpass filters or utilise the strong yet sweet Polysix Lowpass. A full collection of 2-pole and 4-pole Lowpass, Highpass, Bandpass and Band Reject filters let you shape and redefine your sounds or alternatively step outside the box with KORG's unique Multi Filter which creates modulatable blends of multiple modes simultaneously. Each layer gives you three dedicated effects to choose from including compressors, EQs, choruses, flangers, phasers and stereo delays. You can also get weird with the distinctive processors such as Wave Shaper, Talking Modulator, Reverse Delay, Multiband Mod Delay and even modelled VOX guitar amps, VOX wah, multi-head tape echo and a collection of classic guitar pedals.
The KORG Wavestate Wave Sequencing Synthesizer has so many features its hard not to get excited about the creative possibilities from this incredible piece of equipment. The stunning sound matched with deep flexibility via cutting-edge technologies is sure to prove a boost to your creative endeavours with this radically re-imagined and powerful synthesizer.
