The Marshall 1958X Re-Issue Handwired 18 Watt Guitar Amplifier Combo, delivers the smooth vintage vibe of the hallowed 1958, 18-watt all-valve 2 x 10" beauty. The team at Marshall has gone to every effort to guarantee as accurate a re-issue as possible, going as far as to hand-solder parts to achieve this incredible feat.
Many guitarists seek the pure valve-driven tones of amps from times gone by, and as a result of their pleading with Marshall to resurrect those classic models, we have the 1958X. Thankfully, for those who don't want to have to hire out their own private hall just to play, this divine little combo runs hot at 18 watts, delivering that beautifully creamy valve output at ear-friendly levels that won't disturb the neighbours. Whether you're looking for the ultimate practise amp, a heavenly recording model, or a fantastic gigging amp, it doesn't get much better than this.
Pure Valve Tone
The 1958X is equipped with an all-valve set-up that includes a pair of ECC83 valves in the preamp, with an ECC83 and two EL84 in the power amp stages. As you'd expect, the valves are calibrated to respond exquisitely, and thanks to a valve rectifier - EZ81 -, your tone is infused with smooth compression and sustain. Whether you're running at half volume or ramping the signal up, your tone sounds just as sweet, every time.
Total Amp Control
The 1958X has two channels - non-tremolo (1) and tremolo (2), and each channel has two available inputs. The inputs on channel 1 are identical, but the inputs on channel 2 are separated into high (brighter) and low (darker) sensitivity, depending on the tonality you're hoping to achieve.
The tremolo-equipped channel has two controls specifically to control Speed and Intensity of the tremolo. The Speed control attenuates the tremolo oscillation when the effect is activated using the footswitch. The Intensity control attenuates the intensity or depth of the tremolo oscillation. The richness of character of this tremolo can't be overstated, its pure-valve warmth is the stuff dreams are made of. Whether you want to kick back and play some old-school Delta Blues, some tight Country twang, deep and dirty hard rock - whatever you desire -, the Marshall 1958 deliver exceptional cleans, overdriven tones, and tremolo.
Sublime Celestion Greenbacks
The handwired circuitry and expertly installed valves would count for nothing if that energy isn't projected with power and clarity, and who better for Marshall to team up with than their long time collaborators Celestion and their awesome G10F-15 Greenbacks. The speakers have been 'aged' to match the vintage, worn in '60s vibe as closely as possible. The result is a pair of 10" speakers that deliver tones with creamy warmth throughout.
Hand-built in the U.K.
Each 1958X is hand-built in the UK, and each cabinet has been constructed using high-grade wood, with finger-locked joints to guarantee maximum strength. With regard to cosmetics, the Marshall black Levant protects the sides, with beading and piping around the front panel. Vintage speaker grille cloth protects the speakers, with the classic Marshall logo just above.
The Marshall 1958X Re-Issue Handwired 18 Watt Guitar Amplifier Combo is absolutely beautiful. Every detail has been lovingly crafted by Marshall's dedicated team, who has guaranteed this legend can live on for many years to come.
