Martin have developed and built top quality guitars ever since their commencement in 1833, utilising their extensive knowledge and experience as virtuoso luthiers. The CEO-7 draws some of its influence from models that hailed from the Golden Era thus it has an authentic short scale 00 “sloped shoulder” dreadnought design that is incredibly comfortable and looks delightful. The CEO-7 is constructed out of a supreme blend of first-rate tonewoods which will provide years and years of service to the beholder.
SHORT SCALE 00 DREADNOUGHT
The CEO-7 has a classic dreadnought body shape but with a shorter scale 00 body and sloped shoulders, hence its similarity to Golden Era models. This aesthetic in the design of the CEO-7 combined with the materials and bracing pattern used allows the guitar to produce a wide range of varying tones. The CEO-7 is a shorter scale model which has a smooth feel but also has a great impact on the overall tone and voice of the guitar, enhancing the harmonics and warmth of its timbre.
Martin have chosen a solid adirondack spruce top for the CEO-7 due to its tough overall strength and stiffness-to-weight ratio as this enables the guitar to resonate with plenty of volume without compromising on a resonant tone. Martin have developed various bracing patterns over the years, and the CEO-7 is given standard “X” scalloped bracing beneath the body top which diminishes some of the brace mass which consequently helps the guitar to vibrate freely when played.
The back and sides are made up of solid mahogany which is known for its rich, dark and complex tones. Mahogany is a dense tonewood which has a dynamic response that generates clear trebles and has a punchy projection.
The CEO-7 acoustic guitar is fitted with a select hardwood neck via a dovetail joint and has a modified V profile which ensures the feel is robust and durable so that you can play on with confidence. As mentioned, the neck is of a short scale similar to preceding models from the Golden Era, which for many guitarists is a huge playing advantage as it tends to feel very comfortable.
Married to the hardwood neck is a solid black ebony fingerboard adorned with ‘Old Style 18’ dot inlays to guide you along the frets. In total, the CEO-7 has 20 frets with 14 open frets for you to operate the higher notes more freely.
HARDWARE AND FINISH
In order to uphold tuning integrity with precision, Martin have equipped the headstock of the CEO-7 with Golden Age Relic Nickel 2517 tuning machines with cream plastic buttons. The lower bout of the body has a straightline, solid black ebony bridge with a drop-in saddle to maintain a firm connection between the strings and the body.
A single ring rosette decorates the soundhole and is accompanied by a tortoise pickguard which offers added protection against scratches.
The Martin CEO-7 14-Fret Short Scale Guitar is a truly remarkable model which will improve with age thus encouraging you to just keep on playing! It comes in an alluring sunburst gloss finish which blends from a rich, dark brown to a sunset orange.
