The Merida A17-DCES - part of the Alcazaba series - is a fantastic electro-acoustic guitar that provides sumptuous tonewoods, professional-level performance and the ability to connect directly to an amplifier to take your performances to the stage and beyond. The Merida A17-DCES has been shaped to the classic dreadnought body profile with a sleek single-cutaway to enable easier access to the upper frets on the fingerboard. The already powerful dreadnought shape is reinforced thanks to the rosewood back and sides. Thanks to rosewood's impressive tonal complexity, the mid to low-end energy produced is rich in texture and gives this model an enviable timbre. Not only that but it provides this guitar with a strength of resilience that is often associated with significantly more expensive models.

Beautiful tonewoods

The body top is built from solid cedar, a tonewood that is highly regarded due to its impressive resonant character, which makes it a fantastic soundboard that projects tones with incredible power. The exquisite beauty of the cedar is proudly displayed thanks to the subtle natural finish, giving the A17-DCES a beautiful aesthetic. The two-tone bridge provides a secure connection between the strings and body, upholding intonation meticulously. The soundhole is decorated with an intricate rosette, whilst a neat body binding ensures a discreet but seamless connection between the top and sides.

Sturdy neck and fingerboard partnership

Fitted to the body is a sturdy and reliable mahogany neck, which provides a reassuringly steady playing support. Married to the neck is a sumptuous rosewood fingerboard, which is home to 20 frets that are adorned with an extravagant "Vine" inlay design. The slender neck profile is matched perfectly by the crisp responsiveness of the fingerboard, and as previously noted, the single-cutaway body profile gives you total freedom to roam across them in their entirety. The sculpted headstock bears the impressive Der Jung high performance open-gear tuning machines, which uphold tuning integrity with absolute precision.

Versatile Merida/Fishman electronics

The Merida A17-DCES has been equipped with a Fishman/Merida Standard setup, which enables you to plug your model directly into an amplifier of your choice. If you're a singer-songwriter, a soloist, or perform as part of an ensemble, your options are vastly expanded by this subtle yet powerful addition. The electronics system is easy to control and delivers the timbre of the guitar with absolute transparency. Therefore, whether you're playing acoustic or plugged-in, your guitar will sound just as sweet, with all the tonal complexity you'd expect.

If you're seeking an electro-acoustic model that provides exceptional tonality, plays like a dream and looks every bit the professional model you'd expect, then the Merida Alcazaba A17-DDCES electro-acoustic guitar in natural finish is the perfect choice.

Posted on 28/11/2017 by joe Thought they had got the price wrong, over $1000 on some american sites, this is a beatiful guitar, sounds good too. Been playing for many decades and love the look and tone of this guitar. This will be a future classic. Cedar tops give a better timber and bass tone and this is no exception. The workmanship is exceptional, love it, many thanks.
