The Redwood R2 Electric Guitar in Black is a gorgeous model that boasts an impressive set-up, fantastic tonewoods, versatile electronics, and a highly sophisticated finish. The fit and playing feel is more like a premium model, than one that is so affordable. Whether you're new to the instrument, or have many years' experience in playing guitar, the familiar feel of the R2 is a joy that all players should experience.
Slender Mahogany Body
The Redwood R2 body has been crafted using mahogany, a solid tonewood that is highly regarded due to its strong mid to low-end energy that produces ample sustain. The body is shaped with a contoured archtop profile, with sloping bouts and bevelled edges to give it a very comfortable and snug feel in the arms. The lightweight design means that wielding this superb guitar never feels taxing. Completing the striking aesthetic is an eye-catching flame maple veneer top that lies beneath a cool black finish, whilst a natural binding ties everything together beautifully.
Three-piece Canadian Maple Neck
Fitted to the body via a bolt-on neck joint, is a supple and supportive 3-piece Canadian hard maple neck. The neck is shaped to a wide, slim profile to create a generous playing area that is accommodating without feeling like too much of a stretch. The finish allows you to move smoothly without tackiness from impeding your movement along the neck. Whether you're looking to execute some solid down-picked chugging, elaborate sweeps, deft legato, two-handed tapping, or strumming, your hands can roam freely. Thanks to the deep double cutaway body profile, each and every one of the 24 available frets are within easy reach, whilst dot position inlays guide your way in style.
The Redwood R2 is equipped with a humbucker in the bridge position, and two single-coils fitted in the middle and neck positions. Control comes in the form of a master volume pot, a master tone pot, and a five-way pickup selector switch. The range of tones that can be pulled from this set-up will blow you away, translating the warmth of the mahogany alongside the crispness of the maple/blackwood partnership sweetly. Whether played with the volume rolled back for subtlety, or cranked up to deliver a gritty and overdriven tone, you won't be disappointed by the roaring power of these beauties.
The headstock is home to hardworking sealed die-cast tuning machines, which dutifully uphold tuning integrity throughout each and every performance. Fitted to the body is a TR-3 tremolo bridge that allows you to smoothly and precisely control the vibrato over all strings.

It's very possible, and this redwood guitar is everything I thought it would be. It took very little to tune and set up. Intonation was almost perfect out-of-the-way. The guitar feels great, it plays nicely with a very easily navigable fret-board. And it sounds amazing!
It's advertised as a "beginners guitar"... But this little beauty is now the pride of my collection.
I will be back for another Redwood soon.
My advice to anyone seeking a GOOD electric guitar ?......
Buy Redwood !!!
