The Redwood R3 Electric Guitar in Red Sunburst is a divine model that boasts premium appointments, a stunning finish, and heavenly playing feel, yet comes at a highly affordable price. The delicately crafted curves are matched by solid construction, creating a guitar that is great for practising on, hitting the studio with, and taking to the stage.
Slender Alder Body
The Redwood R3 body has been crafted using alder, a lightweight tonewood that is favoured due to its balanced timbre and comfortable playing feel. The carved body shape combines delicately sloping bouts and bevelled edges, which offer a supportive resting position for the picking arm, and the ability to move with speed. The deep double-cutaways encourage greater access to the upper frets to guarantee total freedom across the neck. Completing the striking appearance is an eye-catching flame maple veneer top that lies beneath a Red sunburst finish, whilst the natural body binding ties everything together beautifully.
Five-piece Canadian Maple Neck
Fitted to the body via a bolt-on neck joint, is a strong 5-piece Canadian hard maple neck. The neck is shaped to a wide, slim profile to create a generous playing area that is accommodating and fast playing. The finish allows you to navigate across the strings nice and smoothly, whilst preventing tackiness from impeding your movement. Whether you're looking to execute some solid down-picked chugging, elaborate sweeps, deft legato, two-handed tapping, or strumming, your hands can roam freely. Paired with the neck is a sumptuous 24-fret blackwood fingerboard, which is home to offset dot position inlays that guide your way in understated style.
The Redwood R3 is equipped with a humbucker in the bridge position, and two single-coils fitted in the middle and neck positions. Control comes in the form of a master volume pot, a master tone pot, and a five-way pickup selector switch. The range of tones that can be pulled from this set-up will blow you away, translating the expressive character of the alder with depth and dexterity, alongside the crispness of the maple/blackwood partnership. Whether played with the volume rolled back for subtlety, or cranked up to deliver a gritty and overdriven tone, you won't be disappointed by the roaring power of these beauties.
The headstock is home to hardworking sealed die-cast tuning machines, which dutifully uphold tuning integrity throughout each and every performance. Fitted to the body is a smooth tremolo bridge that allows you to smoothly and precisely control the vibrato over all strings.

The 3 pickups really do give a good variation in the tones you can get. The wide/slim neck is great and the finish is beautiful. Not sure what the strings are, but they are light and decent enough. Action was a bit high, but have got it down to a pretty perfect 2.5mm no trouble. Neck was straight right out the box and only minor adjustments to the intonation needed.
With something this cheap, you think "what's the catch". Looking for faults - the tuners are not the most accurate (but they do the job) and a couple of the machine heads needed tightening, and it does need re-tuning each time I play - but for a basic tremolo bridge I guess that's normal and will settle down a bit. The bridge pickup is a little noisy. The fret edges are a tiny bit spiky (noticeable when you run your fingers down the fretboard edge, but not a problem in play. Other than that it's a beast. Really only minor adjustments needed. I'm pretty convinced you won't find anything better for the money - half the price of a bottom end Ibanez (which it's plainly modelled on) and just as good.
if you are looking at this i would get a better one around 250
