Cool and comfy body

The body is crafted from basswood, a lightweight and tonally balanced wood that offers superb rigidity and resonance. Known for its bouncing midrange energy with subtle low end, and crisp clear highs, basswood is a fantastic all-rounder that makes it highly versatile for those looking for a guitar that adapts readily to any musical style.

The team at Redwood have adopted a classic double-cutaway body shape, which features ergonomically designed contours that allows the guitar to rest snugly against your body during performances. Whether your like to wear your guitar high, at the waist, or lower, the RS2 sits just right. The body is finished with an elegant paintjob, which is protected by a 3-ply pickguard to prevent unwanted scratches from damaging the top.

Fast-playing neck

Connected to the body via a solid bolt-on joint is a durable maple neck. Shaped to the comfortable "C" shape profile, the neck nestles perfectly in the hand, creating a substantial feel without becoming cumbersome. The fast-playing feel of the neck encourages your fingers to roam freely, allowing you to hone your technique and develop playing confidence. Married to the neck is a composite fingerboard, which provides a resilient playing surface to master your skills on. There are 22 frets to explore, with dot position inlays to guide your way.

Versatile pickup arrangement

The Redwood RS2 is fitted with a trio of Wilkinson single-coil pickups in the neck, middle, and bridge (offset) positions respectively. A 5-way pickup switch allows you to select pickups individually, or create subtle blends of two or three at a time - depending on the tone you desire. Using the master volume and two tone pots, you can sculpt your output exactly as you wish. Whether you're looking to execute intricate jazz chops, master the art of country chicken pickin', or shred like a pro, the RS2 has tones to suit every musical genre and style.

Solid hardware

The body is home to a single-direction tremolo in the bridge, which offers accurate vibrato control to truly bring your individual playing style to life. Providing a solid anchor point from each string, the connection from the bridge to the tuning machines is finely executed to optimise intonation and sustain. The machine heads are resolute in upholding tuning integrity, so that once you're tuned up, you can play with confidence.

The Redwood RS2 beginner’s electric guitar is ideal for those picking up their first model, seeking a gift for a loved one, or those who want an affordable backup for practising or travelling with.

Posted on 24/10/2019 by I bought this guitar in August of 2019 and it's now October. I have learned almost everything I know on this guitar - bar chords, power chords, open chords and even some finger picking solos. It's perfect for a beginner who wants to buy a guitar without breaking their bank. Although recently, one of the strings broke, which was easily replaced and is now fully functional again.
However, I don't see the point in buying this guitar when the cheapest Fender Squire (a more reputable brand) costs just a little bit more (£115).
All in all, this is my personal guitar that I use until I upgrade and so far - so good!
Posted on 31/01/2019 by For a small price it sound perfect for a redwood stratocaster. It sounds brilliant on my Laney LA12C acoustic amp that I also purchased from dawsons a few years back. If your looking for an affordable electric guitar stratocaster (beginner or not) then this is for you.
