The Redwood T59CE is a superb tenor electro-acoustic ukulele that has a comfortable playing feel for its size but is also capable of producing a big sound. As soon as you play it through an amplifier, its preamp system translates all the natural acoustic timbre with accuracy.
Redwood have employed laminated rosewood to construct the back and sides of the T59CE which is known for a complex tonality that is certain to get better with age. A solid spruce body top is attached to the body which is the main component in allowing this ukulele to project its sound with plenty of volume. Solid spruce is often recognised thanks to its pale textured appearance but it is one of the most popular tonewoods used when it comes to constructing body tops because it can resonate very openly. ABS binding has been used on the body and purfling for a neat finish against the spruce top, however this also offers protection at the edges from unwanted chips and nicks, as well as supporting the top from buckling or warping.
The tonewoods have been finished with a slender satin coating, which allows the beauty of the laminated rosewood and spruce to shine through proudly. It’s also worth knowing that laminate tonewoods are better equipped when it comes to handling changes in humidity and temperature so the T59CE won’t let you down on the road.
The neck is securely connected to the body and has a 19-fret fingerboard with pearl dot inlays to guide you along with confidence. It has a comfortable feel and you can transition from one fret to the next with ease, and this is further helped by the single cutaway in the body so you can reach the upper frets with no difficulties or discomfort.
At the top of the neck is a classical style headstock with gold geared machine tuning heads which uphold tuning precision and integrity on each string.
BELCAT UK-500T PREAMP SYSTEM
The Redwood T59CE has been equipped with the Belcat UK-500T preamp system which includes a three band EQ and a built-in LCD tuner. The preamp system allows you to plug in your ukulele and hear it played through an amplifier. The UK-500T perfectly translates the acoustic timbre of the T59CE and has more than enough volume too.
The built-in tuner helps you to constantly achieve precise, accurate tuning with every string so you won’t have to worry about hitting a wrong note. This preamp also has a low battery LED indicator so that you are aware of when to switch it off.
For the last few years, ukuleles have had a wave of increased popularity and the Redwood T59CE is an outstanding electro acoustic model that will satisfy any player.

Have always found that electro-acoustics never sound as nice as acoustics, but this one is very good, especially for the price.
Stays in tune well and plays really smoothly, the built-in tuner is also a plus, as I can quickly check it without having to load an app or find my clip-on one (I'm lazy).
Would definitely recommend as a beginner - intermediate uke. I use this with the Marshall MS-2 micro amp, which I also bought from Dawsons, and the combination works very well.
Delivery was quick with no damage done to the package :)
