The Roland Aerophone AE-10 Digital Wind Instrument is an all-new work of brilliance that is perfect in the studio, on the stage, at home - anywhere! Roland appreciates that one's acoustic sax is more than just an instrument; it is a performance partner. However, sometimes during a recording session or live performance, it would be nice to have the instrumental versatility to switch between different tones instantly. Roland have responded to the needs of performers, who seek the tonal versatility of a digital model without compromising on sound quality, by incorporating their proprietary SuperNATURAL technology into the AE-10. The result is a tonally flexible instrument that is perfect for a wide range of applications.
The Aerophone AE-10 allows you to change type of sax sound to suit your requirements, with a range that includes Alto, Tenor, Soprano, and Baritone types. Not only that, but the clever "Full Range" feature allows you to automatically switch between the different sax types simply by key range. Every model responds to your playing dynamics and articulation, giving you total mastery over whichever one you choose.
As if having the pick of a range of saxophone types wasn't enough for you, Roland has even included several other instrument types too, including clarinet, flute, oboe, trumpet, and violin, as well as ethnic instruments such as the shakuhachi (Japan) and erhu (China). As with the saxophone models, Roland's SuperNATURAL technology recreates the timbral characteristics of all instruments with astonishing precision, responding accurately to your playing style for a peerless representation.
Digital model with analogue feel
Whether you're starting out with the saxophone, or are a seasoned professional, the last thing you want is to have to switch between different fingering systems when using your acoustic instrument and the AE-10. Roland solved this problem by matching the traditional sax fingering style of an acoustic - even down to the left-hand octave key. Even the mouthpiece has been very carefully designed to include a mounted breath sensor - which functions as a bite sensor -, and allows you to apply expressive and individualised playing techniques such as vibrato and pitch.
No limitations in the studio or on the move
The Roland Aerophone is a great studio companion, and is equipped with a USB connection that allows you to connect directly with your digital audio workstation (DAW) of choice. From there you can control software-based synths, external MIDI sound modules, all with the same unique control afforded by the exquisitely designed mouthpiece and breath sensor.
The Aerophone is supplied with an AC adapter so that you can plug in and play at home and in the studio. Should you forget to take it with you, the AE-10 is designed to run quite comfortably on 6 AA batteries for up to an astonishing 7 hours’ continuous use. So if you're a student going between lessons, a street performer, or simply taking a wander in nature with your sax, you can rest assured that you've got the power to see you through.
The built-in monitor speaker means that there is no need for you to plug in or use a mic to be heard. For times when a little more power is needed, the output jack allows you to plug directly into a PA or amp - particularly useful when adopting the tuba or bassoon. If you need a little backing music, the AE-10 is equipped with a stereo mini-jack that enables you to connect your smartphone or music player. However, for times when you need to be a little quieter, the headphone output means that you can practise in silence, preserving your relationships with family, housemates, and neighbours.
Each model is supplied with an owner's manual, a safety guide with regard to using the Aerophone, an AC adapter, a mouthpiece cap, a neck strap, and a dedicated hand carry bag.
