From their creation in the 1980s, the Roland TR-808 and TR-909 drum machines have appeared on thousands of dance, trance, house and hip-hop tracks. Spanning the course of decades these remarkable drum machines have made their mark on the art and culture of music. Now the legend is back and to compliment its authentic roots, it has been given a dose of todays technology... roll the drums.
Every detail and nuance of the original classic sounds from the legendary 808 and 909 have been captured here. Obsessively analysed, Roland have captured the heart and soul of the original analog circuitry. The boom and snap of the 808. The thud of the 909. The robotic click of an 808 rim shot or a classic 909 snare roll, everything you could want from the originals are right here.
So as if 2 classic drum machines in this 1 unit wasn't enough, the Roland TR-8 Drum Machine builds on this with new technology. You get 16 stunning kits made up of 11 instrument types, dedicated intensity controls, per-step gate reverb and delay effects with dedicated, real-time knobs, the ability to mix sources connected to the external inputs, built-in side chain function creates rhythmic ducking effects on external Inputs with per-step control, and two assignable analog outputs and full parallel outputs via USB for total mixing flexibility.
The Roland TR-8 Drum Machine contains a unique feature called scatter. This gives you the ability to reverse, glitch, gate, truncate, stutter and perform all manner of rhythmic variations that range from subtle to extreme, all in perfect sync. You can seamlessly change through your scatter patterns and turn them on or off for some on the fly variations.
Rock solid feel
The Roland TR-8 Drum Machine is an instrument that's been painstakingly designed in such a way that when you use it, it will have that reliable solid and predictable feel. Each drum instrument has robust, “playable” faders. Numerous lighted knobs and RGB-lit buttons give real-time performance feedback and, lets face it, a memorising appearance on stage.
Pattern creation is incredibly intuitive using the evolved version of the TR-REC method which originated in the TR-808 and eventually became the standard for electronic rhythm programming. Based on the detailed analysis of the original TR-808, the TR-REC behaviour has been faithfully modeled in the TR-8. But the TR-8 Drum Machine goes much further than original, allowing you to seamlessly switch between programming and performance modes and to introduce lots of variations from subtle snare fills right through to total glitch annihilation.
The Roland TR-8 Drum Machine is designed to integrate seamlessly with other units from the Aira range and also with your existing computer. Use the built in USB jack to send and receive audio and MIDI data. The TR-8 Drum Machine can also receive MIDI clock information to sync with external devices.
Roland have done the unimaginable and improved on not just one, but 2 legendary instruments, for a whole new generation to enjoy... This is something you should be a part of.
