Bringing together the finest software and hardware that Roland has to offer, the DJ-808 boasts: a 4-channel mixer; dual deck control, built-in drum sequencing; vocal processing; 24-bit/96kHz audio fidelity; and complete integration with Serato DJ. The collaboration between Serato and Roland creates a harmonious marriage of hardware and software, bringing together decades of experience between two companies that know a thing or two about pushing musical boundaries. Whether you're polishing off a studio recording or taking to the stage, the DJ-808 has everything you need to create seamless mixes and perform flawless sets.
The drum beats heard around the world
Roland's integrated TR drum machine is packed with sounds that have defined and shaped the course of dance music amongst many other genres for decades. The beauty of the DJ-808 is that not only do you get access to the kicks, snares, claps and hi-hats of classic drum machines such as the: TR-606; TR-707; TR-808; and TR-909, but you can customise your beats as you please. Thanks to Roland's award-winning Analog Circuit Behaviour (ACB) sound engine, the subtle nuances of those classic TR sounds are replicated with unparalleled precision. Not only that, but patterns, loops and beats can be laid out using the integrated 16-step sequencer to stay in perfect sync with Serato DJ.
As well as the internal TR drum sounds, the integrated TR-S sequencer can be used to trigger the 8-slot Serato Sampler in Serato DJ, where you have the ability to create individual drum sounds, layer your samples to suit your needs, and built unique drum parts.
Immersive Serato DJ integration
As well as creating and intuitive layout for use as a stand-alone system, time has been well spent to ensure control over Serato DJ is as seamless as possible. The workflow of the software has been matched with dedicated buttons for loop control, Serato Flip, hot cues, FX and key sync. Not only that, but if you purchase Serato DVS (sold separately), then full DVS support is provided.
Professional quality, high performance platters
All-important tactile control is paramount when it comes to DJing, and Roland have spared nothing in ensuring the DJ-808 is equipped with a pair of high-performance platters. Latency is kept to an absolute minimum, so that real-time accuracy over your signal and track is second to none. Integrated displays give you quick visual feedback with regard to playback status. You can even control two decks simultaneously using a single platter, thanks to dual deck mode.
Works fine by itself, plays well with others
Roland has equipped the DJ-808 with plenty of connectivity options to meet the demands of today's discerning producers and DJs. There are two AIRA link USB ports that allow compatible Roland instruments and FX to be connected using a single USB cable. This can then be readily integrated into Serato DJ. There are 1/8” (3.5mm) and 1/4” (6.35mm) headphones jacks, combo XLR input jacks, and a built-in phono pre-amp.
As well as the XLR combo jack for connecting microphones, the DJ-808 has a dedicated vocal processor, the VT Voice Transformer, with independent EQ, Pitch, Formant, and Reverb. You can create a quick ducking effect for adjusting the mic level when you want to speak. The VT's Auto Pitch function can even adjust the pitch of the incoming signal to match the key of your Serato DJ tracks!
