With the huge success of the tiny but huge sounding JD-Xi synth, the challenge for Roland was to push the boundaries of what this already very capable synth could do. What did they come up with? The JD-XA Analog Digital Crossover Synth. This complete creative monster combines a four part analog section and mixes it with digital engine powered by Rolands acclaimed supernatural technology.
Roland have fitted 49 full size keys to this model and enough controllers for you to get your hands dirty with the internals. Now is the time to blur the lines between the unbeatable natural sound of analog and the cutting edge tech of digital.
The only way forward is together
If you were to open up the Roland JD-XA, you will find the completely separate circuit-board that house the analog workings and digital engine. Although you can use these components completely separately should you want to, you can blend as many aspects of them together as you wish. This means you can create a complex digital sound and run it through pure analog filters for a sound that simply cannot be replicated by the digital or analog standalone synths.
Hands on effects
With a collection of 67 effects types, the Roland JD-XA has the capability to enhance sounds to the point where they are unrecognisable should you want to. Nature distortion and overdrive work in tandem with BitCrusher to have a complete auditory meltdown whereas delays and reverbs can create smooth and lush leads and pads.
The Roland JD-XA has a mic input to apply the internal power to your vocals. Use awe-inspiring vocoder tones for thick, electronic vocals or simply add reverb for studio-grade clean polish. You can alternatively use the mic to modulate the built in sounds, so speak or sing, either way you have some massive creative power to play with.
So much more
The Roland JD-XA Crossover synth also includes a 16 track pattern sequences, real-time step recording and a powerful arpeggiator so you can lay down complex parts at the touch of a button. For connectivity, you have just about every option out there – USB, MIDI, CV and a plethora of audio connections means that the JD-XA will fit comfortably into any existing studio or performance set-up.
With the Roland JD-XA Analog Digital Crossover Synth, you now have the capability to make the sounds that up until now, you could only dream of.
