Sennheiser is a name that is synonymous with high-quality audio. The HD 280 PRO closed-back, circumaural headphones have been created for professional monitoring applications, at a price that home recording artists and engineers can take advantage of.
The frequency response offered by the HD 280 PROs ranges from 8 ~ 25kHz, with a delightfully flat and linear delivery - exactly what you'd expect from a reliable pair of reference headphones. The cans themselves do not colour the signal, which allows you to craft and shape your mix with total confidence. Treble, Mids and Bass are all represented with equal weighting, so you can accurately control your overall mix with precision. Not only that but the 32dB noise attenuation from external sources means that even in high-noise environments, all you'll be receiving is your headphone signal feed.
Total harmonic distortion is kept to 0.1% with a robust sound pressure level of 102dB. Whether you're mixing a spoken word performance, acoustic ensemble, hip hop, metal or an orchestral piece, the HD 280 PROs will ensure that the entire dynamic range is available to you with absolute signal fidelity, preventing unwanted perceptible errors going unnoticed.
Running at a nominal impedance of only 64 Ohms means that if you don't happen to have a beefy headphone amplifier then you won't fall short of the full capabilities these beauties have to offer.
Weighing in at a mere 220g, you'll hardly notice that you're wearing any headphones at all once you put them on, and the circumaural design completely covers the ears with a wonderfully snug feel. Sennheiser have gone to incredible lengths to make sure that the HD 280 PROs will sit firmly on your head - no matter how big or small it may be - without you even noticing, which is great if you plan on locking yourself away for a few weeks to get that mixdown completed! The ear-pieces are collapsible for easier transportation, and they also rotate so you can pick up and use them quickly and easily. The side-coiled cable prevents unwanted joint breakage. A 1/4" jack adapter is included in the box.
If you’re looking for an excellent pair of reference headphones that are built to last, offer a superb frequency response and are good to go straight out of the box, the HD 280 PRO headphones are made for you.

I know people that have had these for years, taking them to every gig up and down the country and they still perform like they're brand new.
The sound quality is immense and the clarity in bass and mids is outstanding. Mixing records through these headphones suddenly becomes a much easier and more enjoyable task!
They are non-fatiguing which means you can mix for hours without getting that annoying earache that the cheaper, more uncomfortable headphones give you.
The large earpieces close tight to your head and block out almost all outside noise, meaning you get to hear the music as the artist intended! This also makes DJing much easier as it leaves you to concentrate on the incoming track. They are also very comfortable to war and sit on your head very nicely.
The one negative thing I have to say about this product is the coiled cable. This is a personal dislike as it can often get tangled and twisted. This however is the norm with DJ headphones and is something I have to live with.
Overall, in my opinion, there are no better headphones on the market for the same price. The build and sound quality is amazing and I will continue to recommend these to anyone who wants a decent pair of headphones for DJ'ing or listening to music in general.
